"USA Today’s Touchdown Wire has recognized the NFL’s five best offensive line performances of the NFL’s Week 7 action and the Miami Dolphins have surprisingly found themselves on the list. The Dolphins are ranked as the league’s 3rd best offensive line showing of the week, thanks to their collective effort to physically push around one of the more talented defensive front sevens in all of football (the Buffalo Bills).
Yes, the Bills would go on to win the game, 31-21. But a returned onside kick for a touchdown skewed just how close this game was, an effort in which the Dolphins dominated for the first 40 minutes of the contest.
Here’s what Rick Suter of Touchdown Wire had to say about Miami’s offensive line effort.
“The winless (Dolphins) rolled into Buffalo, facing a Bills defense that’s one of the best in the league—third-best passing defense, fifth-best against the run and 3rd overall. Considering those numbers, what the Dolphins almost pulled off on Sunday was even more impressive.
True, there was no FitzMagic. But a day where the Harvard grad went 23-of-35 for 282, with one touchdown and one pick, while the running game was solid, totaling 109 yards on the ground with another two touchdowns? And, again, this is the Dolphins (offensive line): Shaq Calhoun, Evan Boehm, Jesse Davis, J’Marcus Webb, and Michael Deiter.” – Rick Suter, Touchdown Wire..."

I'll be completely honest, I think that this is the biggest accomplishment to date. I think that this unit is by far the worst in the league in terms of talent, and their ability to get a stellar performance out them says a lot.
I have been pleasantly surprised with Chad O'Shea. I feel like he is a far bigger "genius" than Gase will ever be. We actually have sustained drives and not 3 and outs. I do think drops have plagued us and that is not on him. With a slew of draft capital, I think a constant warning to the team would be if you are gonna drop passes, we will draft guys that can catch balls. I am usually reluctant to want to sign WRs in the offseason, but Amari Cooper would be a guy that I would seriously negotiate with.Tin Indian, Pauly, KeyFin and 1 other person like this. -
Just goes to show you don’t always have to spend a bunch of high picks to build a good OL. Coaching can and does make a huge difference with the right type of guys. Having said that, I wouldn’t be opposed to drafting an OT in the 1st round with our 2nd or 3rd pick to solidify it.

I have been saying this for forever. IMO good OLs are built primarily through time and coaching consistency.
I haven't done a deep dive, but I don't believe the OTs expected to go in the first are all that special this year. There are a couple of Cs that could go late first which may be special though.danmarino, cuchulainn, mlb1399 and 1 other person like this. -

If they build an average OL out of the parts we have right now, I"ll feel really good about them being able to develop all the rookies in 2020 and 2021. Plus, the HUGE bonus of being able to spend the high draft picks on the QB, DE, CB, WR, Safety, and HB.

They had a heck of a game but I really need to see them block more than once in a 16 game season before I think we are okay there. It would be great though you're right.resnor and Silverphin like this.

I can remember the days of Joe Gibbs and “The Hogs”. Washington’s offensive line was incredible. I saw an ESPN breakdown once of their OL performance and how the OL had pushed the DL 5 yards off the LOS as the ball was being handed off to John Riggins. That in itself was a guaranteed 5 yard gain BEFORE Riggins asserted his own abilities.
That’s what our OL needs to do...beat the living crap out of opposing DLs, wear them down physically and emotionally to the point that we can do whatever we want...run, pass and show them there’s nothing they can do to stop usSurfs Up 99 and resnor like this. -
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I love what Flores is doing. Once he can get some players, watch out.
