No surprise there. Like I said before. Ireland ramps up negotiations during the Combine because all the agents are there and it's easier to hammer out parameters. Wouldn't be surprised if he had someone wrapped up within a few days of the combine ending.

DTrain had some great moments last yr, but two years in a row finished on the IR with a relatively light workload -
IMO we can't roll with Miller, Thomas, Gray and Thigpen. Way too little experience/production. It could work out just fine, but if we're going all in this offseason you can't go into 2013 with that big of a question mark. -
They should let Bush go because he is not a good fit for what Miami does. His best skill set is his receiving skills, and that just isn't likely to be utilized the way it needs to be in this offense. Plus, he's not a very good zone runner. He has too much east/west movement when he runs and doesn't just stick his foot in the ground and hit the hole. Great work ethic, but a poor long term fit for what Miami wants to do.
Lamar Miller is a better fit, and IMO, a better pure runner in the long run.Disnardo, bigbucks24, Marco and 4 others like this. -
What I'm thinking is Bush goes into a Woodhead type of role for us, the real question is whether Gray can push Thomas, if he can beat him out then we will have sufficient depth at Rb assuming bush is retained. -
It's probably not a bad idea to bring him back, as long as Miller is getting the majority of the carries. I wish we would have used Reggie more in the passing game this year, if that's the plan for next year, then bring him back.

I like Bush for his veteran leadership. He is one of the hardest working guys on our team and can show our young RBs how to be both in the spotlight and professional. He sets a great example.
He is frustrating to watch a lot of times though. It seems in 2011 he was more willing to go vertical through the OL, but reverted back to his stop, bounce outside mentality in 2012. Some of the stuff he comes up with is impressive though, and once he gets a lane he is a threat.
I am just upset we didn't use him more in the passing game. That is how you get Reggie in space. -

I'm no longer infatuated with PFF, however we also had the worst OL in the AFCE last year per their rankings, at some point, once again, context will come into play.
That and the ye olde days of "oh he averaged such and such per attempt" does not mean crap anymore KB, it is all about creating chunk yards and Td's. -

IN any event, It's not costing us draft picks, and I can't believe we're trying to sign him if Joe Philbin and Mike Sherman are standing there tell Jeffy to let him walk. It's obvious the coaches want him back. Sherman all but admitted they finally used him correctly at the end of the year (due to limiting Tannehill's playbook early). -

I have seen enough of Reggie Bush. IF it was Barry Sanders (gain 1, lose 2, gain 2, gain 65) we were talking about I could live with it. Bush's big plays are too few and far between to justify the running game staling out all the time. How many drives ground to a halt when we would run it on first down and instead of shoving it up in there for 2, Bush would tap dance looking to gain 20?
The Reggie Bush of 2011 was what I would take back. He was taking the profit and living to fight another down. I believe it all went downhill after the Raider game. He went big play hunting.
Lamar Miller is the style of runner I want in this offense and what is required in this offense. Get the hand off, make a read, put your foot in the ground and go. Period. Whether Miller is THE guy or not remains to be seen. Ireland will draft or sign another runner to compete.Disgustipate likes this. -
I'd watch plays and see instant penetration and then read "oh, reggie loses as much yardage as he gains"
Uhm, yeah, this is one of the reasons why I'm negative on bringing Jake back for big money and somewhat surprised Incognito made the pro bowl, the OL was just not that good.jdang307 likes this. -

Put me in the camp that thinks Bush dances too much, and doesn't hit the hole when it's there. So, I'd much rather see Miller given more PT and a chance to develop. And, if the FO believes a veteran back is still a need, how about Bradshaw? Assuming healthy and at a affordable price of course.

If keeping Reggie makes it more likely we cut Daniel Thomas, I'm in.

I agree Lamar Miller is a better fit. But can you trust him over a 16 game season just yet? That is a massive IF.
I know we cannot trust Daniel Thomas.Hiruma78 likes this. -
