With all of the talk about Heat and everything I started thinking. Who would win a championship first, Dolphins or Heat?

Gotta go with the Heat. In the NBA, all you really need is 8, maybe 9 players during the playoffs to make the run. It's much easier to win a title in the NBA than it is in the NFL IMO. Why else would the Lakers have like 98 titles and the Celtics 92?

I think the Heat will probably go first. Uber talented, and they're expected to contend immediately. I'm not convinced our Phins are quite there yet defensively. And Henne still has to prove himself.

I think the Heat will have everything they need by the time the season starts to win.
I think the Fins defense will need a year to mature, but the offense has the potential to be dynamic and somewhat eplosive. The key for the Fins this year is special teams.
I voted for the Heat.dolfan7171 likes this. -
Heat. No question. The Heat might win two or three titles before the Dolphins make it back to the Super Bowl.

I could give a rats about the Heat and the NBA.
I really only care about the Dolphins. :up:Finsanity, adamprez2003, dolfan7171 and 2 others like this. -

I really doubt the heat win it this season. Maybe next year.

I picked the Dolphins because I think this whole dream team thing is gonna blow up in the Heats face.
The Heat won't win a single title with the "big" three.Finsanity, Killerphins and xer0 like this. -

Actually, not to be a total jerk but the Celtics have only won 17 titles.:yes:dolfan7171 and Finsanity like this. -
Unless the Phins win it this year, the Heat (and it's not even close).

the dolphins will win it all in 2011/ 2012 if there is a season. thats my prediction. as for the Heat. I dont see it until year three at the earliest. No way they get by Boston, Orlando and the Lakers this year and i doubt next year. its obvious also the two new york teams have the same plans in place and i wouldn't be surprised if the heat move is going to start a new trend of super teams at the expense of the smaller market teams. carmelo to the knicks is almost guaranteed and we'll see if they get paul too. i think the odds are the Heat wont win anything since they'll never be able to get the big man needed to win it all. too many equally talented teams with all pro big men for the heat to get through

But what is your answer to the question of this thread? :) -
Why are there so many threads about baskeball in the Dolphins forum?

Vegas has them as the odds on favorites to win it all this season. SO you be the judge. -

Heat and it's not even close. They may win a title before the Dolphins even see another postseason (hope not).
FYI, I'm a Dolphins & Heat fan equally. I don't put one above the other. Never. Not speaking on this thread but more so on what's been going around the town lately - why are these fan bases somewhat divided? If you grew up down here, then you should be a fan of both. -

Football has such a short adjustment window as opposed to Basketball.. at least at the pro level. Might be the reason I like college basketball so much.
You get one game to win a championship which equates to hours as opposed to days. You have to figure it out pretty damn quick cause the clock is staring you in the face. Sixteen games in the NFL and then do or die. Give me a game seven in the NBA final and I'll tune in but give me the NFL playoffs and the SB. That has my attention. -

Well, with the SparanoPhins opening 08 0-2 and 09 going 0-3, if the Dolphins don't turn that around this yr Joe Robbie will be doing a ghost town imitation.
I will say the Heat won a Title in 06, and yet there was no mass migration to purchase season tickets even with two super stars on the roster.
However, since 06, there has been a decline in Dolphin Home Game attendance:
2009: 19th
2008: 18th
2007: 8th
2006: 7th
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_club_attendances_(2006)
http://espn.go.com/nfl/attendance/_/year/2008
Basically, the Dolphins have bled 5k fans for every home game, since 2006 which had a high of 72k down to 09's 67k.
Granted the Miami Area economy has taken a huge hit, and season ticket sales numbers are unknowns, but 5k per game is no small thing, what is worse, even 08's turnaround season did not reverse that trend.
On a positive note:
Dallas went from attendance in the mid 20's all the way down to #1 with a new stadium, which imho is probably what the Dolphins need, not building on some nonsensical tarp covering as it may attract more SB's, it won't re-add those 5k fans who have found other things to do..
