Miami is ranked #4 as a team in rushing the QB. Dallas, SF, and Detroit (4-3) are ahead of us. After reading Padre's thread on how disruptive Bell was, I took a look at OLB combos in the same way. I was surprised by some of the results. Here's the top five.

    San Fran- Laboy rushed 173 times, 4 sacks, 5 hits, 19 pressures, 1 batted pass, Total- disruptions-29. 16.8% Lawson- 217 rushes, 3 sacks, 8 hits, 23 pressures, 2 BPs. Total- 36 16.6%. Combined - 16.7%

    Miami- Wake rushed 445 times, 16 sacks, 21 hits, 29 pressures, 3 batted passes, Total- 69 15.5%. Misi- 253 rushes, 5 sacks, 7 hits, 20 pressures, 1 BP, Total- 33 13% Combined- 14.6%

    Cleve- Roth rushed 393 times, 4 sacks, 10 hits, 40 pressures, 1 batted pass, Total- 55 14% Bernard- 235 rushes, 7 sacks, 11 hits, 16 pressures, 2 BP, Total- 36 15.3% Combined- 14.5%

    Pitt- Harrison rushed 456 times, 11 sacks, 15 hits, 32 pressures, 1 batted pass, Total- 59 12.9% Woodley rushed 504 times, 9 sacks, 7 hits, 53 pressures, 1 BP, Total- 70 13.9% Combined- 13.4%

    Dallas- Ware rushed 509 times, 15 sacks, 8 hits, 56 pressures, 0 batted passes. Total- 79 15.5% Spencer rushed 413 times, 5 sacks, 4 hits, 28 pressures, 2 BP, Total- 39 9.4% Combined- 12.8%

SF's LaBoy and Cleve's Bernard were pass rush specialist, which makes somewhat of a difference. I was still surprised by both teams, as well as Matt Roth.

I did not think Wake and Misi would be this high, especially with Misi in his first year. We may be in better shape than some had thought.

Past success is not always a great indicator of future performance especially when its only 1 year youre analyzing. I hope like heck Wake can repeat last year again and take him game to another level but Misi must also improve at actually taking down the QB. Misi had 32 plays where he was in the opponents backfield and only 5 sacks for a 16% success rate. Wake had 66 plays where he was in the opponents backfield and 16 sacks for a 24% success rate. You want to see Misi I think up around 20% and force man to man on wake. If he can convert those opportunities more then this defense will take another step. The secondary pass rushers have to be more consistent.

Misi has to be decisive in his moves off the LOS, he too often likes to engage his opponent when he doesn't have to...He needs to learn real pass rushing movess and stop wasting steps..

I do mostly agree. However, it is unusual for a rookie adapting from DE to OLB to have much of an impact, especially one who played DE and DT at Utah. Misi did need to get stronger and work on his moves. He impresses me as a player who would have done that in the off season. I expect a big improvement this year, although I was very happy with last year.

Sparano has said that he also expects Wake to improve. That's a scary thought for OCs.

1 sack in the last 10 games gives me bit of concern regarding Misi
Did he hit a wall after 6 games or did teams figure him out?
