Wish I could say I'm surprised by the outcome, but I'm not. I was hoping for simply a competitive game - but I knew the Pats were not about to surrender a 3 game lead to us, especially not at home. What I saw out there was an embarrassment. We lack an identity on offense and someone who can influence the outcome of games vs. upper echelon opponents.
Not that I really needed to, but after having a night to think about it, Gase, our coaches, and team should be ****ing embarrassed. All we want is our team to be competitive week to week; however, when analysts say the Dolphins didn't come to play what kind of message is that sending to the fans? Are they all there just to collect a check? I can't stand ****ers like that! What total BS! We were 3-0 and instead of showing up to play we were totally dominated in every way. Gase should have a tattoo on his forehead that says, Belichick's *****. They should be angry as hell, but instead if you looked at Gase and Tannehill at their after game press conference they could have been talking about a cookie recipe they liked or the game for all I could tell. P.S. I am getting fired up and all this with only 1 cup of coffee, so far. I might need to switch to decaf. ;-)
What Stephen Ross does now is going to tell the fans of Miami whether he's tolerable of this or not. We have players on our team that have huge salaries that other competing teams might be willing to rent for their playoff run. The guy has some sense...as it was widely reported he wanted to trade out of the Fitzpatrick pick to address more needs. He understood. He knows. This team isn't good. The rest of the league and the world are about to find out the same thing. We have 12 games left, we are 3-1...this is AT LEAST an 8 loss team. Not sure how he's going to feel when the Dolphins lose 7-9 of their next 12. I hope he's pissed. I hope he's had enough of terrible football, terrible coaching, terrible QB play, terrible defense and wipes the whole damn slate clean. Get a real head coach, not this arrogant POS that folds like a cheap tent at the sight of a real offense and a real coach. I hope at the next home game there are thousands and thousands of empty seats. People have to express their displeasure with their pocket books.
I understand your frustration, but I love the Fitzpatrick pick. The dude is solid. IMO, what has hurt us the most is reaching for guys with so-called potential. Give me a guy like Fitzpatrick (any position) every year in the draft, and I will be a happy camper. Bucky Brooks is right. Better to hit doubles than swing for the fences and strike out. As for Gase, I agree his offensive philosophy can be frustrating at times. For example, I don't understand the lack of emphasis on the running game. I am not talking about just yesterday, but I don't understand why that isn't a priority when it comes to building our OL, in training camp, and when creating a game plan. I realize he views the dink and dunk like running plays, but as we saw if guys can't get off the line then that goes out the window. Without an OL that can actually run block, he got what he deserves, and we all suffer for it. Oh, and I hope Gase enjoys his ****ing press conference today. Can't wait to hear him explain away this one. P.S. Going on 2 cups of coffee. Lava is bubbling up and working it's way to the surface. The volcano is starting to smoke...
What he said was that the Pats played with more intensity and were more physical....he never saw that coming. He knew it would be a tough game but he never expected the Pats fighting harder than his guys.
That's a BAD sign. As coach at the very least you have to get guys to fight harder (or at least as hard if the other team is also fighting hard) than the other team.
Maybe he's just trying to send a message? I mean, in the end, you can't make your O-lineman magically better (at this point). All you can do is hope they fight a little harder and respond to some public criticism.
They had the fight in them after getting rid of Dallas Thomas in 2016.. all the way to the end of the season. So it's a bad sign that that hasn't continued. I mean, maybe 2017 you can say we didn't have our starting QB but there's no excuse now. So whether Gase is trying to send a message after the fact is really irrelevant. Gase himself should have made sure the guys fought hard to the end by properly preparing the team for NE. And it wasn't just the lack of a fight. It was also the lack of a good game plan. All on Gase.
100%. Just trying to put myself in his head. He's got to try and think strategy at this point I guess.
We had that Ravens debacle in 2016 where we lost by 32 points and the team rebounded. If Gase keeps this team together and gets them to the playoffs, I mean.. who cares what happened in NE. It just feels, smells and looks bad atm.
It's very perplexing in that Gase didn't seem to play call to our strengths. It's as if his play calling yesterday was so bland that any opponent's HC would have an answer for it, much less a defensive genius like BB.
The o-line wasn't the problem- RT was only sacked once in the first three quarters. The problem was completing passes. If we're talking about the run game, the problem was that those seven defenders seemed to know a run was coming and they jammed the box. There were often holes at the first level but nobody was blocking linebackers at all (at least from what I saw).
btw.. the Bengals have given up 23, 23, 31 and 36 points to their opponents so we should be able to see whether offensive ineptitude is real or just a 1-game NE thing when we play them. But OMG if we crap the bed against the Bengals.. I gotta break something.
It is so frustrating as the Dolphins seemed to be on the edge of breaking into the category as one of the best teams this season. They were still the lowest ranked 3-0 team which is fine and I felt we were maybe 10-15 adjustments away from going to the next level. Perhaps we would get half of that ready for this game yesterday. Meanwhile the Patriots looked like they were 30 adjustments away from figuring it out and they needed at least 10 things to begin going in the right direction. What ends up happening is we get nothing figured out and now seem like we are 30 adjustments away from what we need while the Patriots figured all 30 out and now they are the top team in the league yet again - all in 1 week. If I was more paranoid I would think that the Pats were pulling punches to surprise us week 4 just like we surprised them 10 years ago with the wildcat. Knowing Belichick this is definitely possible. People talk about shifts in momentum - MAN!! i hope I am wrong and just overacting and we will find out next week I think.
I meant to reply to your post "welcome back Dirty" I hit "Quote" instead of reply. Im still learning this forum. i think you are insinuating I'm someone you know named Dirty..Im new here, cast off from another forum.
- This is how I see it, until we can beat every team twice in the AFC east , Like we did a very long time ago , especially "Tom Brady's "New England Patriots" than were no better than a bottom dwelling team hoping for a win. -I also believe "Adam Gase" is good coach , but from what I seen on Sunday we did now RUN the BALL enough , Kenyan Drake is good Running back , PASS PASS , is all we did which gave the ball back to Brady all the time so he all day to score touchdowns besides the 2 PICS we got. -I also believe Gase , should rip the OFFENSE and DEFENSE, and new BUTT especially the offense, because if the offense was on the field chewing the clock that keeps MR. BRADY off the field.
This was an old fashioned beat down. Kind of like what the Vikings went through against the bills. Part of it was self inflicted, part of it was the refereeing and part the patriots themselves. No one really played well. Our first three drives all stalled because of offensive line penalties. We got zero holes for our running backs and though the pass protection was pretty good overall, our receivers couldn't get open and Tannehill just couldn't get into a groove all day and couldn't connect the few times someone did get open. On defense the secondary got lit up and our defensive line got gashed. I actually thought this one of the best games for our linebackers though. I saw McMillan finally start to make some plays and baker seems to be coming along I think criticizing the offensive playcalling is valid but even if it was don shula we weren't winning that game with so many units failing
If we had run the ball all day, people would be complaining that Gase didn't adjust his gameplan and kept running into a defense that was shutting down the run. Look, we had zero run blocking. Our only chance was to get the passing game going. Tannehill was getting smacked while throwing all game, the receivers couldn't get open downfield due to what all my Pats fan friends are calling "great defense," and the refs weren't interested in calling the muggings going on out on the field. That's a tall order for any QB on any team.
I really think that they should have Loggains take over calling the plays. This offense starts way too slowly in every game and didn't start at all in Foxboro.
RT is now the worst QB in the division. The sooner we accept this, the sooner we can move on from eternal 8-8.
Buffalo may be in a worse situation in the AFC. 49ers are worse than us without Garapolo, maybe AZ. A case can be made we the 29th worst QB situation in the league.
