Dolphins place Tua in IR

My point is not whatever he said in public. I know we don't know what he said in private. That was my point. About his influence, yeah, that's what I said. What's your point?

How would you know what he really thinks if you're not going by his public statements? All you have are his public statements to claim "It's amazing that he would support drafting Tua and then, especially support giving him such a big contract based on what we've seen."

Regarding his influence.. I'm just responding to you being "surprised" his opinion (whatever it really is) may not carry much weight. It's easy to explain.

You never know, Marino’s public support of Tua could echo his private and behind the scenes opinion of Tua.

No one can just assume that if “you” (generic, third person inclusive) don’t think highly of Tua that Dan Marino’s opinion of Tua echos your own.

Yeah I'm just responding to what he actually writes. If that's what Sceeto is trying to say, then the question is why assume Dan hates Tua.

The McD + Tua combination putting up elite stats for 2 years would make it really difficult even in private for Dan to push an anti-Tua view even if we assume he actually holds that view (no evidence of that of course). At best, he (and any others who are anti-Tua in the Dolphins organization) would be making the argument based only on health concerns, but it's hard to imagine that view would have been influential at the time of signing the contract given that Tua played the entire 2023 season.

Garoppolo was a no brainer whether Tua went on IR or not in my opinion. Best case scenario Tua comes back early and we have the best #1 and #2 QB tandem in the league, which considering Tua's time out for injuries would be less a luxury than a necessity. Worst case scenario we have a very talented starter with the same backup who is now our #1. Grier is not doing a good job positioning this team as a serious playoff contender.

Reports today say that Tua was placed on IR before he ever saw a neurosurgeon/neurosurgeon. What a load of BS. Either Tua is really thinking about retirement and asked for time to decide, or the NFL decided on their own that he goes to IR. With how we’ve seen the obvious bias against the Dolphins over the past two years I’m going with the latter.

Also, this should put the “Tua is a system QB” talk to rest.

Again, that's kind of disingenuous. So it's either Tua, or no one? No, the backups behind Tua have been absolute trash. We need an actual starting caliber QB, at least, to run his system. And, if we continue to move forward with Tua, we really have to have something better than most teams have at backup, because Tua just can't be depended on to not get hurt.

Come on now, I believe you have stated at one point that all this system is is getting the snap and throwing to a predetermined spot in 1.5 seconds to incredible playmakers.
