This week's trip to Buffalo has made me nostalgic. It has me thinking back to the good old days of Chad Henne and the Patience Brigade.
I'm going all the way back to November of 2009 when everyone just knew Henne was the answer, the savior, the anointed one.
Henne had gotten off to such a hot start - winning five of seven games - as the Miami Dolphins' new quarterback most thought his future was bright. Then the Buffalo Bills threw him a few curve-ball blitzes, a different coverage look, and stopped him from rolling out.
Interim Bills coach Perry Fewell opened up a new can of worms on Henne in his eighth NFL starts and the team's quarterback of the future threw three interceptions in that 31-14 loss to the Bills, which was the worst game of his first season as a starter.
Things would never be the same for Henne after that game. Opposing defenses had figured him out. A blueprint was available and he never adapted, never changed, never morphed into the quarterback Dolphins fans hoped he'd be no matter how many new weapons (Brandon Marshall) he got.
