Understand where you're coming from. MY point is that they had a whole lot more than TWO hits....and ALL of them were better than anything Buffet ever wrote. Case in point...would you rather be caught listening to "Doctor Love" or "Cheeseburger in Paradise"?
This is a JOKE!!! Not only giving the stadium such a LAME *** name, but it harkens back to the SNL skit, making it a bigger joke. Well I already don't like Ross' first major decision as our owner. OK, maybe it can be considered his second. His first being to stay the hell out of any football decisions! What a nightmare, can hear the mocking jokes already from that blow hard Chris Berman!
Didn't the NFL ban alcohol from locker rooms? But it is OK to name a stadium after a beer? What a nightmare... Ross--->
You know NJ.... Sometimes if just CAN'T be about money. I understand your point. But this crosses the line, diminishing the organization, the team, the community and the fans! Is just EVERYTHING for sale for a price? Is that really what we want our society to be about? Isn't there dignity left?
Hey as a fan of both NFL and MLB, now both my teams have had recent stadium name changes. This is positive in a sense that they landed a huge sponsorship, which despite terrible ticket revenues the past few years, this will help keep the Phins in Miami (not that i doubted it was in jeopardy) On the other hand i was really happy McAffe Colisium was renamed back to Oakland ALemeda county colisium however as happy as i was about that, without a major sponsor in a poor ticket selling environment it doesn't bode well that the A's stay in Oakland. So landshark stadium might not be the favorite name, but it is a lot better than suffering financially and making investor/owners ponder the thought about moving the team. I can live with landshark stadium, the name isn't that bad imo. Could be much much worse like say... Jobing.com area in Phoenix??? What the hell is that about?
wow.. bro.. it's a name.. nothing more.. who gives a crap.. is it worse than pro player.. which it was called even AFTER Pro Player went out of business.. at least we can have a "feeding frenzy" what does Qualcom have other than earthquakes.. how about Hienz stadium.. they get to bottle them up, not nearly as cool.... there are bigger things to get angry at.. there are..
okay, as long as you are Malak al Rahim terrorist guy with the makeup.. I want the flip flops and shorts
I still Publix should have taken the rights. "Where kicking your *** is our pleasure...." I can't take credit for that, I saw it on FH a year or two ago, don't remember who said it.
How does this diminish the team or the fans? It brings money to the team and entertainment to the fans.
Is that Jimmy Buffett? I knew he had gotten a little older, but...... I heard a rumor that next year it will be named Viagra Stadium and they will sell Viagra at all of the concession stands and I can't imagine the logo?
i think you might have misunerstood my thinking in the post. i didn't meen that now all the drunks will show up because it's named after a beer. just found it ironic that they would go with a beer company and a guy known for partying while trying to create a "family"atmosphere..kinda like booking marylin manson for a church retreat.
I just watched the vids on aquavision. I don't know about this. The new stadium name, the song. I just can't get the least bit up about it. It's all so hollywood and not much football IMO. I may get used to it. I'll just have to wait and see.
Laughed at enough? Maybe if you're in 6th grade. Damn dude, grow a pair and rep your team like you should be doing.
What does Gillette have to do with NE? Lucas Oil with Indy? Qualcomm with San Diego? FedEx with the Skins? Lincoln Financial with Philly?
Look at the vid of buffets concert. The song is at the end of it. It's on MD.com (aquavision) Call me "old" or what ever, but personally I don't like all of these changes. Whether anyone likes it or not, we are supposed to be the Miami Dolphins! We may not be the elite team we used to be, but we're still the Dolphins. And I'm proud of the team now, just like I've always been. We're identified by our logo and our history. Yes, I'm prejudiced, but I don't care. We look soooo much better and have so much more to identify with then the other teams. Sure, winning is the most important, but I'm still proud to be a Dolphin fan because of what our organization has done as far as keeping us different from the others. It should remain Dolphins Stadium or Joe Robbie and leave our uni's and logo alone. This is my opinion as a long time fan of my team! So let it be written--so let it be done.
We are all able to have out own opinions. We're fans. I also don't care what other teams do--we're the Miami Dolphins. I never liked or disliked buffet, but every one says we're trying to get younger etc. So, why is he and his beer so great? I don't care about money either, we're a football team, not an entertainment group. And if ross is so rich, why start all this? IF I got to go to a game, I'd go to see the team, not some lame music. (Not saying buffet is lame either.)
The bold is right on, so why care what the stadium name is and the entertainment of it? It has nothing to do with the product on the field. The team is the Miami Dolphins, changing the stadiums name does not effect the team. I can't believe people are so uptight about this. Ross is a business man, this is good business, just like when Wayne changed the name, it business.
I am not so uptight nj. Just an "old" fan. As I posted earlier in this thread. Right or wrong, It's my opinion. Plus, I do think the logo at the stadium etc. does reflect the team and the fans. I'll live with it, what choice do I have? But, I don't have to personally like it.
I am a parrothead and I have to say..THIS SUCKS! So in the past 3 years we have had Dolphins Stadium, Dolphin Stadium, and now LandShark Stadium. The logo is horrible. Sure, normally a name wouldn't mean much...but this time it takes gaudy to a whole new level. I get it...Ross is trying to drive revenue by selling the naming rights. However, this one is just a step in the wrong direction. To me it has been and will always be JRS. At least name the field after the man. To keep changing the name of the stadium and not give Robbie his just due is a shame. Can't wait to see what the name of the stadium is next year. "Gloria Estefan Stadium"???
The Miami Dolphins have unveiled a new shuttle system to bring fans to and from Landshark Stadium. Presenting the worlds first All Terrian Shuttle (capacity: 2).....
