The fact that Davone Bess is making less than the Punter is down right criminal.

That will change, or he'll find a home elsewhere I'm sure of it. Not that I'm happy about it, but he'll get more notoriety when his contract is up.

And honestly, it's pretty fair. He was a UDFA if I recall when we picked him up, what, 2 years ago? And did good last year, but has really come on this year. At this point in his career, he deserves more, but he knew what he was getting himself into. It'll get sweeter when its time to up the contract.

I was noticing that Devone Bess needs a raise
and on the other hand Ginn makes over 2 million per year to do nothing, way over paid.

Ginn makes roughly the same as Charlie Anderson, Jason Allen and Akin Ayodale. I'd say Ginn has had more positive plays than all those guys combined.

You are conflating cap space vs. salary. He is not making 2 per year. I've already posted his salary numbers. He has 3 TDs and would have been 4 (save for Polite leg whip).

He's had a horrible stretch for sure. But he's making $677k this year, $1.035M next year, $1.4 million in 2011, and $1.8m in 2012.

That is not that much when you look at it.

i think all players and owners should take DRASTIC pay cuts.

then they could lower ticket prices and stop *****ing about people not coming to games, when 90% of thier fan base, will make less money in their lifetime, then tedd ginn will in the next 2 years.

Will cap numbers even matter next year?

If next year truly is uncapped, I hope the Tri uses it to dump dead weight like Gibril ($4M to wander the field looking like Foster Brooks, miss tackles and drop sure interceptions - sign ME up!) Wilson, Ted Ginn, Joey Porter, Channing Crowder, Akin Ayodele and others.

true enough that CAP does not = salary ... however, until it goes away - CAP determines our ability to cut, and sign players.

some contracts almost 'make' you keep a player for an additional year or 2 just based on the CAP cost ....

removal of the CAP brings about unconstrained budgets ... so that if you do have a bad contract or 2, you can just get rid of it without penalty (less the $$$$$ money of course).

it does give an advantage to the more successful / solvent teams .... but most importantly, it provides the financial flexibility to the same.

some have said that the loss of the CAP takes away 'free agents' for next year - from what i read, it just creates / extends restricted free agency. so, if it costs us a 1st round pick to pick up Marshall or Merriman .... so what. it may cost more in terms of picks and $$$$, but won't or shouldn't stop the team from making necessary moves.

Most surprising thing to me is that Torbor is making $3.6 million (or has a $3.6 million cap number, I should say).

I am not a TGJr. fan, but it looks to me like he isn't making that much money for a first round pick (even without jdang307's correction to the cap figure). Am I wrong?
