I don't know much about Jordan but it was a smooth move by Ireland value wise and should be a win/win for both teams.

Other thing is, we now have great Lb depth, Misi can play all 3 lb positions and De, Vernon can play Sam and DE, toss Jordan into the mix and we went from mediocre to very young and very fast.

Then again, could easily see Misi being traded for cheap as he is in his last yr and is a good, not great player who can play in the 3-4 or 4-3.

Going by a more updated value chart, the trade was essentially even. But all things considered, when you can trade up for your guy and get even value for what you give up, thats a big win in the NFL.

I was thinking about that, however I was thinking that Misi is much better than anyone Miami had coming off of the bench last year. Having a 4th linebacker who is decent, is a pretty good thing to have.

From what I heard Dion really expected to be in Philadelphia to play for Chip again hence his vague reaction but he will learn quickly Miami is a much better city and fit for him anyways.

I don't blame him cause he probably likes Chip a lot but hey, he will move on.

The Eagles are furious at us. Let's just say we aren't going to be doing any deals with the Eagles any time soon.

So the Bills raped the Rams then going by this new chart?

Do you have a link to an updated chart or is it something you have come up with yourself? The old one needed to be chucked in the bin, it was usually far too costly to move up.

Then there is this when the Vikings wanted back in the 1st round and traded with the Pats

Thats what they got for the 29th pick.

I really cannot remember anyone trading up into the top 5 and only have to give a second rounder. I know a #12 pick is still pretty high but.....

the raiders were taking hayden no matter what, so they did good to move down, and they pretty much did us a favor to let us move up for what they did. Pretty awesome.

Perhaps you missed the SB the past several years. The offenses have been a lot more dominant in these games than the defenses.

It used to be that defense won championships. With all the rule changes which have mostly benefited the offenses in the NFL, having a great offense and an average to good defense is enough to win a SB now.

Look at Baltimore's record with Ray Lewis and without Lewis last season. That should be a pretty good indication of how going from average to good on defense helps a team win.

Dolphins got their guy without trading to much to get him, Raiders got their guy with getting an extra pick in the 2nd, so I say its a win-win, but I do like the Trade on the Dolphins side

No kiddin, Bry. We went from 12 to 3 and it only cost us an early-mid 2nd; meanwhile Washington went from 6 to 2 at the price of 2 1sts and a 2nd. What a difference a year makes, eh. So glad we got our QB last year BTW.

I would say Balt had an average to above average defense. They do have experience. And there aren't any major holes which is what I think is most important. They did not dominate in anyone category all year. But they weren't at the bottom either.

Washington got a franchise QB if he doesn't get killed. The difference is that there were two franchise QBs that drove up the market big time. The market just wasn't there. The first 6 guys off the board were DE and OL lol.

If the Reverse Dolphins had the same dearth of high draft picks that the Raiders do, we'd be celebrating this trade, especially since the Reverse Dolphins would still have gotten their target, DJ Hayden.

Trading down, getting a high pick in that trade, and still getting your target is laudable, particularly when the player can be among the top at what happens to be a core position.

Yeah, the closest recent trade was the stinking Jest moving from 17 to the fifth pick. Trading their 2nd rd plus 3 backups for sanchez.

I wonder if what Ireland originally offered was the #12 and #54 selection to see if it was possible. Still getting him for the 12 and 42 is awesome. The trade benefited the raiders from the standpoint that they still acquired their most coveted player, and were able to recoup a 2nd round pick. Overall I think the trade worked out extremely well for both teams. Gotta wonder what # Jordan is going to wear being that big Pat wears #96.

Having 2 top defenses represented in the SB supersedes the score of the game since you gotta first get to the SB to win it.

Strange how those high scoring Patriots did in the AFC champ game vs Balt (scoring just 13 points), should've lost to Balt in the 2011 AFC Champ game and couldn't handle the Giants D in the SB (17 pts), nor the Ravens D in 2009 playoffs (14 pts), the Jets D in 2010 playoffs (21 pts, most in come from behind), and the Giants D in the 2007 SB (14 pts). The average N.E. score from those 5 post season losses: 15.8 points, and this was the NFL's #1 scoring offense during that span at 32.6 pts/g and the only team averaging > 30 pts.

Sure, the Patriots can beat up on average & poor defenses throughout the year to make the post season, but in the end, the best QB in the game and the NFL's most potent offense can't get past great defenses, not even that record setting 16-0 offense of 2007. You have to go back to 2004 & 2003 when N.E had the #1 & #2 ranked DEFENSE when they won their last SBs, and they won 2003 with the #12 scoring offense (21.8 pts), #17 yards (315). Compare that to the 2007 offense that averaged 37 pts & 411 yards.

I know why it happened. Was merely showing some perspective, Dang. It cost a boatload to get into the top 3 last year.

Heck, it cost Cleveland a 4th, 5th, and 7th to move up one spot from 4th to 3rd.

... and it cost Dallas pick #45 to move up 8 spots from 14 to 6. We gave up essentially the same compensation to move up 9 spots and 3 spots higher than Dallas.

We would love to get the player at a lower contract price but the cost overall with just on more pick?????

Man, this board would be lit-up tearing Irish a new one for selling the 3rd overall pick so cheaply.

I think the old draft chart holds even more value now that there's a rookie wage scale.

Top picks are worth more in the present, IMO because you're not stuck with a ridiculous contract. Trading up should be harder than it was in the past.

Miami got the better end of the deal, but like Desides said, in the Raiders eyes they got a good deal too. Got their guy and an extra pick(a good one no less). Win-Win
