I dont think an agent would be unable to make noise about this. That'd be like putting a steak infront of a hungry dog and expecting it not to make a move for it.

 

Yea, I think we would have heard a rumor at least. Not even Parcells can shut up all the agents and media forever. I do think that negotiating with the top four or five guys is a good idea. It would keep alive the slight hope of a trade down, no matter how small it may be. And we really need our top pick in camp on time.

 

Methinks they probably already are and have been for a while and may have a deal almost in place already.

However we are talking about the No 1 pick in the draft and for the money involved I do think a preagreement is vital

The article said we should negotiate a contract with our top four or five 1st pick prospects and then whoever agrees to it we then sign him.....what happens if we then get a great trade down offer come draft day? Can we rip up the contract?

Basically you dont sign them, you just hammer out an agreement in principle, then wait to see what happens in your time. If nothing, sign on the line, if a trade pops up .... well thats the end of that! Generally the only people who are actually under contract by draft day are the megaprospects, a guy like Peyton Manning.
Other than that, its mostly just talks and negotiations, seeing where you both stand, rather than having a contract signed by the time Goodell hits the podium. It can play a large part though. Rumors had it that the Texans were doing well negotiating with Mario Williams, and not so well with Reggie Bush, one reason (though not the only, nor main) they went with him.

I think that if he makes it clear to that agent that he needs to keep his mouth shut or else the deals off the table or whatnot, I think he could get them to keep silent.

I honestly dont think we have really pegged 'the guy' yet though.
