Henne is the guy I want in camp.........I wanna see what he has.

 

Opposite for me, I really wanted to see Merling there.

 

Same here :hi5:. Merling is waaay more important imo. If all goes well, Henne will ride the bench this season and Merling will be planting QBs into the ground.

 

Alright Miami! Can't wait to see him smashing Brady, Edwards and Pennington on Sundays.

 

I think with JT leaving Merling will be chomping at the bit now to get into the fight. Lets hope Merling the Magician shows his stuff.

 

They both need to be there, but I think Merling is more important at this point.
If Henne starts this year, it most likely means both Beck and McCown are worthless. Henne needs more than just Training Camp and a few practice games to be ready for the NFL... look what happened with Beck when he got thrown in too soon last year.

 

I have to believe his groin injury is a thing of the past. I can't see us pushing hard to get him inked if he still wasn't gonna be 100% and on the field. Henne was reported to be the one close to signing by Friday, let's see if that was BS or the truth.

Even if he isn't 100%, he still needs to be in camp learning the schemes. That way when he is 100% (if he's not already), all he'll have to do is catch up on his conditioning. Instead of having to do both and be even further behind.

 

Well I just don't want them to push him and turn him into a John Abraham with cronic groin problems that never let him make it through a full season.

 

Henne better sign soon. I don't expect him to play anytime this year. However this will be vaulable time to groom him and see whay he has to offer

 

I doubt they would, theres no point in rushing him into heavy physical stuff if he isn't ready. They'll prob take the same approach as they are with Ronnie.

In fact, I so badly want to see Beck get a chance to prove himself that I will be quite pleased if Henne falls a few days behind Beck.

I would prefer that Henne just gets to practice and learn for at least a year.

have faith in the system. if Beck comes out and produces in practice, and mans up during pre-season games, and proves himself as a player, i think he'll play.
i'm so tired of those ambiguous fiedler/feeley-esque battles where the less sucky guy starts. i'm praying for someone to come in and be a force, be dominant, and be a leader. enough madam butterflies behind center. someone come in and kick-*** for once in this decade!

 

dam, it has been a decade.

 

yup. human nature is to love your own child a little more than someone else's... and Henne is Parcells/Ireland/Sparano's child. Plus, ANY 2nd ounder on the bench behind a guy who struggles will usually get a look (Trent Edwards).

The thing is, every young QB struggles before becoming great, so I fear the short leash they will have for Beck won't allow him to mature into they incredible player I feel he will be if he gets the extended opportunity to play wihout looking over his shoulder.

Not to mention, putting a rookie is is often detrimental to their confidence and development. Ideally, Beck starts and even if he does so-so the first six games, the regime lets him work through it and he has a very strong last half of the season. Meanwhile, Henne develops. If we are lucky, and Henne looks ready to start in a couple years (like by 2010), we could trade Beck or Henne for a couple 1st round picks in 2011 and 2012.

Then we win the Superbowl in 2014, 15, 16 and 17.

What???? Am I getting ahead of myself?

 

Of course, Bill Parcells will have worked for two other NFL clubs by that time.
