New year, new season, new team. We may not be normal this year either, but that will be due to a trip to the playoffs and beyound!

 

I know I am posting this in the wrong place but I went to the welcome new member thread and I did not see anywhere to start a thread. Any ideas? Welcome to the site (officially anyway)! I thought for sure you meant Winston Salem but sure enough, there's a plain old Salem west of Greenville. I'm about an hour from you in the northern part of Spartanburg. LOL, and I have questions. =)

I love the Nantahala and Pisgah forests for rafting/kayaking trips......is that whole green area north and west of you part of the national parks? I always wondered because the combined parkland is about the size of a small state. Is there anything worth checking out in that area of the forest?

 

Hi. You have to go gold panning with me up there. Right now I have a hip and leg problem, should go away soon. I used to live in Taylors. I go to the Sumter National Forest.

 

I used to have a neighbor in Lake Lure, NC that's run a gold/gem group for decades now...they pulled gold straight out of the Broad River on the back of his property several times and they used to rent out mines and equipment for the weekend. I was always too busy working to join them but it seemed like a lot of fun....they'd usually break even or even make a couple of bucks off it.

Maybe I can make it over that way one of these days though and we can grab lunch or something.
