Hello everyone,

It's getting to be that time of year again where I would normally start Dolphin Survivor. No, not the reality show message board version which caused so much drama last year, but the game where we vote elimination style to crown a champion from the Miami dolphins roster. See my sig for examples. Last year's game really suffered due to the lockout. We had to start really late, even though I thought it would be an interesting twist to have part of the game take place during the actual season. It wasn't. The game sputtered to an almost standstill and tensions grew as a difficult and long season was underway.

But last year and in past years, there have been members saying the game isn't fun anymore, people stopping in to complain about the game, etc. etc. Although we did ultimately finish last year and a lot of you claim to still enjoy the game.

I don't mind doing the work at all, but it is a lot of work if all it's going to do is annoy the majority of the posters on this board. So please, vote and tell me whether or not you think the game should continue this season and beyond. Please also explain your reasoning in a post. I won't base the decision entirely on the poll results, but also the explanations of those explaining why it should or should not continue.

Assuming the mods allow me to continue running the game this year, if enough people want to play I will start the game sometime next week. This will be a normal year and we will have plenty of time to finish probably before the preseason even begins. Keep that in mind when voting. We won't have many of the issues that slowed the game down last year.

Please don't vote if you have no strong opinion one way or the other. You can always ignore the game if it's not something you're interested in. I'm mainly interested in hearing from those who have played in the past.

 

DJ, if it happens, give it a try this year. It might look complicated, but it couldn't be simpler. I know you're passionate about a lot of these players and I'd love to see your votes.

To me it's like the NBA playoffs. If you're paying attention to it, it lasts the right amount of time. If not, and you're just casually following it it seems to last an entire year.

People have always wanted me to speed it up, but the game always resolves itself in a couple months. Last year took forever because of the lockout and slowdown. It's supposed to be a lengthy process and I just don't think it would mean as much if I made it a quicker game.

 

Hard Knocks could really influence voting...

It's not a terrible idea, but if someone had an agenda against a player 3 might make it too quick for a player to get knocked out very early. Really I think in every other year except the last year which was destroyed by the lockout, the numbers and voting works out pretty good. I know it's a long game but it's kind of supposed to be.
