If he signs with us it makes our Oline alot better and provides depth with Satele playing guard along with back-up center.
I doubt Satele is starting next year... Our OL will look like: J. Long J. Smiley Brown R. Thomas V. Carey with Satele backing up the G and C positions. what a Great O-line thats all I can say...
This would go a LONG way to addressing our tough schedule this year, you have a top five line in the league you can beat anybody.
I could only imagine how happy Ronnie Brown is thinking about this... As a fan, I can't wait to see us run the ball up the middle; without Brown or Williams being hit in the backfield or having to juke someone back there. This is the year to truely judge how good Brown is and based off what I have seen from him, I exspect huge numbers!!! Ronnie Brown for MVP Fantasy HB next year, get him while he is hot!!!

We have money, so does other teams. Supply and demaind phineas. I don't think any player gives a "discount" as long as an agent is involved. But i do agree fully with you, if we can get JBrown great, if he comes below what we expect him to get, even better

I did mean Satele would be in a back-up role. Thats why I said depth, But alos considering that Justin Smiley (Never stays healthy) and Donald Thomas missed most of last season I do think he will start at some point.
The last minute resigning of Crowder tells me we aren't focusing on anyone else but Brown at the start of FA. If the FO believes he's the guy, then make it happen boys, and get him down here.

Look at it this way. If we backed away this quickly, then the brass obviously feel Center position isn't in that much dire straights as some have speculated on here. I've felt all along that Satele's shortcomings are miniscule compared to other postions we need to fill or upgrade. If Fins brass indeed think upgrading Satele is a crucial move needed then I imagine we'll pick one of the 2 highly touted Centers coming out in the draft. Brown's played all of 1 year at the Center position and he wants to be paid as a top Center? Pass.
I agree. For all we know, Satele worked out in the gym 20 hours a day and got strong enough not to be treated like a rag doll like last year. Maybe Ireland and Sparano have faith in him now. I doubt it, but you never know.
This would be AWESOME!! If we can get him signed, that is huge. Takes up alot of our available cap, certainly well worth it. But could also bolster my opinion that Marvin Harrison could be our FA at WR. He is a lot cheaper then Coles or TJ. Especially if we spend the cash on center.
