Looks like CB is going to be a strength of the team for some time to come with the Vets we have signed (Grimes) and the youth (Taylor and Davis).
I can't speak for what you saw in college but this essentially is what I saw in college. An occasional moment of physically impressive, aggressive brilliance followed by a whole lot of virtual indifference in coverage, allowing guys too much space and easy catches...occasionally allowing enough space that it proves costly after the catch.
haven't seen enough game action to determine whats hes going to be..i had him as the fifth best corner...size, speed, strength, confidence, maybe like you said he's one of those who plays a bit scared and has to play with cushion..
BAD idea!!! Say, Tripp is playing a lot of defensive snaps, and hurts a hand or arm, and it effects his long snapping. We'd be screwed. There is a reason why all 32 teams now have one player who only long snaps.
I'd say it is likely Taylor is playing tighter coverage, so he isn't getting challenged as often. There is the school of thought that the less a corner's name is mentioned, the better he is doing his #1 job of providing good pass coverage.
I'd hate to see that. In addition to being money on the long snapping he makes ST plays. He caused or got a fumble in a game last year that he had no business getting. It was a game changing play.
it looks as though damien williams the receiver will make the 53, he's coming hard at receiver, and he can return kickoffs, jarvis will handle punt return..
jordan tripp gettin legit reps with first team today, wasnt because of injury, philbin praisin his smarts, tripp says he can play faster when he's on the field with some pro bowl players, ''i can play faster'' thought that was pretty cool...
IMO they should just add a long snapper exception. Allow them to have 54 players and one longsnapper, and even have it so the longsnapper doesn't count against the cap and active player list.
Honestly not trying to be a prick here, but there is not Damien Williams the receiver on this team. Damian Williams the WR, and Damien Williams the RB. Two different names, and if they are both going to make the 53 (not saying they will), I think we should do the little bit it takes to recognize the difference, especially when we take the time to break down other minutia about the way they execute a play, the number they choose, or look in a given photo, etc.
It's practice with little to no context. We have no idea what the situation was that they were simulating (if there was one), or if there was a specific reason Misi was out.
#5 is the back... #1 is the WR... I do wonder if they both make the team how does the equipment manager handle that... is he just going to leave "Williams" on the back of the jersey? or spell out their first names too?
when i was writing it, i took a guess that is was the one with the e, cant slack even if you have two guys with the same freakin name, lol. lets see how am i gonna remember that the receiver is with an a.....Daaaaaaamian williams is the receiver.
It's the numbers bro... A... is #1.. first letter of the alphabet... E is the 5th letter of the alphabet... #5... the running back.
I have weird ways of remembering little crap like that...I kept track of 'em as "A" as in "Air" (receiver) and "E" as in "Engine" (running). Probably harder than just memorizing which is which, but that's how my ignernt mind werks.
I think they made a rule where they don't even have to include the first initial any more. IIRC both Reshad and Don Jones both just had "Jones" on their jersey last year.
Even if the first names are completely different and last names are the same, they do not put even a 1st initial anymore. Even if there were 5 guys on the team with the last name Williams, they'd all have just Williams on their jersey. Then fans can use the number to figure out which Williams.
I always thought Goodman was pretty quick. Goodman originally reminded me of Sam Madison. So does Will Davis.
