http://www.nationalfootballpost.com...tml?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter also WR Jared Green (Darrell's son) WR KJ Stroud DT Al Lapuaho OT Nic Purcell OT Jason Weaver Interesting the positions they are looking at wide receiver???? and offensive tackle. OT I can understand... WR? hmmm... maybe we are keeping five and hoping someone lasts to the practice squad... but if not, we have fall backs?
always kills me that the local reporters don't pick up on these try outs. Maybe they did and I missed it though. heh... doubt it.
I'm wondering if we picked up any injuries to our wide receiver group that haven't been reported. Something is weird here.. and it's not just me.
Perhaps the coaching staff isn't as enamored with the #4 and #5 WR's prospects as some people on here appear to be.
I expect we will see more tryouts soon after final cuts.I expect an OL signing ,perhaps a RB and a TE
Why does the fact they tried people out mean they aren't happy with what they already have? I think this is the biggest misconception that exists amongst the fans. Trying players out doesn't automatically mean they are unhappy with who they already have. All it means is that they want to see for themselves what the player can and can't do.
anything is possible. But I'd be totally shocked if the five wide receivers (likely five could be six) who make the 53 aren't already on the roster. Unless there's a trade in the works. But seeing as our top three wr's all signed contracts this offseason, I can't see them getting traded. I can't believe a team would trade us anything for our #4 thru #7 guys. Unless there's an injury.
ok... how about the fact that Armon Binns went down with injury and perhaps the staff isn't happy with our depth behind our top 3? When Binns went down, did we make an attempt to bring anyone in? I don't believe so. But now that we've seen a full preseason of games with what we have behind our top 3, a day before cut down day, we are looking at three wide receivers? We'll know soon enough just how happy we are with our depth. Just file this away for now.
This type of info isn't coming from any team sources. It's likely coming from agents. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
So one of their agents leaked it? I can understand that if it's one guy, but there were six invites. The one player leaks to his agent who else was there, knows everyone by name? I don't think so.
Either immediately or even down the road. No one goes through the whole season without having to "turn over a rock" Of the 704 players cut, a bunch will be on someone's PS or even regular roster before the year is out.
I agree JW I think people around here think that all our wrs are hall of famers. I would bet that our wr corp isn't as advertised and maybe Philbin isn't as sold on our wrs . nobody but Wallace impresses me but that is only how I feel right or wrong.
Guy was behind Chris "7-eleven" Hogan on the depth chart due to the lack of understanding of the offense or where to line up or what routes he was supposed to be running. Also acted like a child when reprimanded by the coaches or his QBs. He has talent, but doubt that Sherman or Philbin would have much patience for a guy who obviously doesn't study or apply himself.
Physically talented guy, but a complete head-case, apparently. I'm skeptical about him. He could be a really good WR if he ever got his head screwed on right. The bottom line for me is, we already have a pretty solid group of WRs from top to bottom. So, unless he was willing to sit on the practice squad and prove himself, I'd pass.
damn JW, how much more do you need to see in Matthews to know that the guy has always been our fourth, and that the kid can play
Rodgers apparently thinks an NFL playbook is written in Vietnamiese..guy has tons of talent, but frankly is dumb.
@caplannfl: Colts signed WR Da'Rick Rogers to their practice squad. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk
Character and familiarity both must have come into play, but from a pure raw physical talent standpoint, Rogers dwarfs either of them. If he were similar to someone like say an OJ McDuffie between the ears, Rogers would have been a top 15 player in the draft. As the say though, If "ifs" were fifths, we could all get drunk.
