Coming into this season, we all had many questions about our team. Could Henne take the next step? Would the interior OL hold their own? Is Fasano the answer at TE? Is Hartline a true #2 WR? Can Ronnie stay healthy? Is Rickey too old? Will Starks, and now Soliai be legit NT's? Will Wake become an every down LB, and take the next step? Can Misi be a player in his first season? Is Clemons the answer at FS? Will Smith, and now Allen, be what we expected or hoped for? After three games, questions have been at least partially answered. So, as of today, who or, what position, is our weakest link?
unfortunately, I have to say jason allen. braylon embarrassed him last week. It was clear their strategy was to go at jason allen until he makes a play and he never did.
favre did the same thing and allen excelled. i wouldnt toss him under the bus yet because of 1 mental error and 1 silly physical error
2nd TE and pass rush. But to be honest, I feel like out weakest links aren't nearly as bad as last year or 08.
I think Wake has played well, has improved vs pass and run, and is still learning. I do question counting on Misi to make plays in his rookie year, adapting to OLB. I woulda loved to have JT for one more year, allowing Misi to slowly fit in. I sincerely believe that Misi will be a player. It's just so hard for any player, at that position, to be special in their first year.
i agree with everything....i just cant really point out a specific position. Although, i truly believe we are weak at nose tackle....the rushing performances we have given up the last 2 weeks are in a word: disgusting.
This is not snarky in any way, but if he makes that tackle on Braylon is his game that bad? Really? Don't get me wrong, that play sucked ***, but other than that? His game wasn't that bad, he wasn't called for PI's out his *** and Edwards didn't have 9 catches on him or anything. The 67 yard play was big, but Edwards had 2 catches for 87 yards. Not exactly racking up receptions, and Allen's coverage contributed to that. If they went after anyone Yeremiah Bell was on that list. They certainly tried to find him in every way; formation wise, motion everything.
I agree, on both counts SB. I also think Odrick being out is hurting us. And, I don't think Allen was as bad last Sunday as some other have suggested. Where was the safety help on that one big play where he slipped? And, I still think that PI penalty was iffy. He was turning his head just as the ball arrived. Besides, Edwards was coming back to the ball, thereby creating the contact. That was a HUGE penalty (well, that along with the BS unsportsmanlike call against Clemons).
I’d say safety is still a huge problem point. Better play at safety on Sunday gets us a W. ILB is still a sore spot with Crowder out. Henne could have overcome both of these deficiencies with better red zone play.
TE's continue to be a sore spot. I did put up a thread on that, looking for solutions. Join in if ya like.
I have to disagree. Edwards was only targeted 3 times, catching two. IF not for the slip, Braylon would have had about 40 yards, hardly embarrassing. Jason had made two int's, and been in position for four more. I don't know if that is being lucky or good. Either way, I like it.
I have the same problem in pinpointing a specific player or position. The more I think about it, I would have to say youth, not a bad thing. I would also add in a kick returner. That's one I'm sure everyone will agree with.
Although I would love to a couple of kids from my Canes doubling up to play on Sundays, I do not have a solution on a KR. I have to believe Ireland could have found someone better but, cannot offer a name. Anyone know who we could have gotten?
disagree. i think our weakest link is SICK's thread warning us not to overreact and jump off a ledge if the Dolphins were to lose to the Jets and then watching him go insane for a day and a half afterwards calling for everyone's head
thats the thing. i found it weird in that i thought bell had a worse game than jason allen and yet allen got all the grief. guess its being the new guy and people not buying into his improvement. but bell had one of the worst days ever tackling wise. there was one play that was arguably the worst tackle attempt i have ever seen. it made sean smith look like ray lewis. cant remember what part of the game it happened. think it was the 2nd or 3rd qtr
LOL. I love that pic ya posted. That little guy is gonna grow up by half-time in the season, as will our D. If we go 4-4 or better in the first half, WATCH OUT!!!
you my friend get the sig they are still pups learning to play with each other. once they grow up i may change it to an adult wolf. if they dont grow up i'm feeding the puppy to an orca
I'd have to say that Henning is by far our weakest link, because he does not show faith in our players when the situation calls for it.
eh....to be honest, i wasnt calling for our players or coaches head. i was just pissed at stoopid jet fans trolling. My thread didnt disregard that
disagree, i think he's one of our strengths. i never feel we will be outcoached. henning has seen everything and even if we get outgameplanned at the beginning he will adjust throughout the game and drive the ball even with inferior talent. he's probably responsible for three to four wins a season. we're not even in that game without henning. that wouldve been a blowout with almost any other offensive coordinator
In a pack of wolves, only the strong survive. I see a lot of survivors on our D. When these pups grow up, they could well be the best D our team has ever had.
i think they will. alot will hinge on misi and wake IMO. we need one of them to blow up. i think our secondary is set. i think our dline is set though we may need another NT in next year's draft. we might need another ILB also
Jason Allen slipped on "The Island" to give up that big play. How did Edwards embarrass Allen exactly? I would say our coverage on TE's especially Yeremiah Bell is whats embarrassing. And mark my words, Clemons is going to eventually start missing tackles because he tackles high. And also the Wildcat is our weak point when we don't send Ricky in motion. Why? Because that's what made it successful. Send one great back one way and send another one the other way and someone is bound to bite on the wrong back.
in the jets game definitely. that was the worst performance i have seen in quite along time. that was even worse then having the jets punter turn into gale sayers last year
