Trying to get him signed before the 12 AM deadline. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=1860
Might not be a bad option to keep him now especially with the signings of Bell and Wilson at the safety spots which would help out our secondary immensely. Id still like to see us find another solid corner capable of starting though, whether in FA, or through the draft.
IMO he was our best corner this last year. I would very much like to keep him and Allen, and draft a youngster or two to play behind them. I think Will is not going to be resigned after this year when his contract comes up. This should let us ease some new kids into the lineup and hopefully work us back up to the old days of Madison/Surtain.
Allen and Goodman were a fine duo for us last yr, adding a younger faster guy to cover the slot Wr as well as Wilson and we could have a really good secondary this year.
5 mil a season is overpaying for Goodman, although I like the guy, but he'll probably get it. With some of the top CB's off the market due to franchise tags, and there not being many left, Goodman is probably in the top 3 of available.
No way in hell we'll pay Goodman 5 million a year. If that is really what's being thrown at him by NE let him go and address it in the draft.
Man, I would rather have Pat Surtain back and he's a FA now. I am sure we can get him wayyyy cheaper at this point than what AG is asking for, and me personally, I dont see any difference in quality of player between the 2 (at this stage of PS's career).
I've seen Pat Surtain's name around here alot lately...Why? He's clearly on the bottom side of his career and no--he isn't on the same level as Andre Goodman IMO. Andre Goodman still has the recovery speed to be a man cover guy. I think Patrick Surtain has more liabilities in pass coverage and run defense than Andre Goodman. Wasn't the reason why Nick Saban originally let Madison walk and Surtain go (via trade) because he saw they were so poor against the run on film? I know that Parcells feels the same way about his corners.
