I said all week that Luck is phenomonal in the pocket, I said his ability to manipulate the pocket is special, and if we can "contain"him, we would win, well, we could not contain this man,He beat the sh&$ out if us with his skillset, and we lost..plain and simple, he's that good, and if we wanna win the afc one year, were gonna have to out score him...

3 points in the 2nd half by our offense was ridiculous..

We need a traditional down hill runner, which Reggie and Ronnie have not been...Barner from Oregon. seems about right.

Thought I was the only person losing his mind over the blatant holds not being called. But they called the hold that didn't exist on Thigpens return in the 4th..

I don't think Kenjon Barner is what it'd describe as a downhill runner in terms of the NFL. More like an Eddie Lacy or Le'Veon Bell.

To me the Offense did what is has been doing all year, mildly productive, nothing spectacular.

D was really disappointing, that was possibly the worst game from our defensive secondary I've seen since the Marino era or 07, SS24 will have nightmares about it.

I thought the phantom hold on the Thigpen return was atrocious.

Unfortunately Long was also beaten by guys other than Freeney.

I said it weeks ago and I maintain it. Whether he's hurt or simply isn't what he used to be, Long is not playing like an elite left tackle anymore. It's been two years now.

Jeff Ireland may pay him what he's seeking, but he's not worth it right now IMO. Frankly I will be disappointed if we do.

The defense was just flabbergasting today. After facing some lackluster QBs, they got exposed to a degree. But this was on another level. Really tough to watch that performance today.

Yeah that was terrible. There was no way we should have had less than 10 points 2nd half. The defense was shown up by a great QB (albeit a rook) but I thought there was no way they were going to stop us from scoring either and we would hit 27 points.

I've come to the conclusion that I really don't know what holding is. Because I *think* I see it a lot on Wake yet it rarely gets called.

I wanted the side judge's mic to be on when Rizzi was arguing that bull**** call.

The problem I have with today's game is that when you're trying to get over the hump and win as a favored team on the road in the NFL, which isn't easy to do, you need stud performances from your leaders to set the tone for the team and lead the other players by example.

In the midst of that we got very subpar performances from both Jake Long and Sean Smith, who are guys you need to have step up in that situation. Two of the players who could've (and should've) helped this team get over this hump it's sitting on didn't show up.

Sean Smith sucks. There, I said it.

Aside from that, we failed to put enough pressure on Luck. He's everything he was advertised. But, when you give any QB that kind of protection they're going to find the open man and make plays.

You're pretty crazy if you think Smith sucks. He didn't have a good game this week but he's been having a good year.

Long and Smith probably had their worst games of their careers. We expected more than that.

If the refs don't call holding on the Colts OL, Luck has all day to throw making the secondary look like the crap they displayed.

I'm with everyone on this. It was a disappointing loss.

Overall a "bad" game all around...our secondary...our pass rush...the referees......but I would be remiss if I did not mention the God-awful job CBS Sid with the telecast! They missed by my count 4 snaps! 4! funny me but I thought their job was to televise the game...made a frustrating day that much worse!

In years past, yes. He's been a very reliable tackler so far this year.

This is probably the first time all year that I've agreed with most of what you said in your post game threads Dpate. The refereeing was abysmal. I think Philbin could get fined if he says what he wants to say in the post game presser. And he's a reserved guy. But you see him going ballistic on the sidelines and then after the game.

I don't know what it is with Cameron Wake and why he isn't respected by the refs. You'd think after being in the league as long as he has been and statistically dominating that the refs might show him a LITTLE respect. I like to think I watch a lot of NFL football. I haven't seen a guy as good as he is not get the respect by the refs. And then you have Fasano getting called for holding at a crucial time... and Jake Long getting called for it on the last offensive play of the game... not to mention the Pouncey false start calls. Now, he's done this all season long, yet today they decide to not only call it against him, but to call it against him at the most crucial point in the game... 2nd and 10, with miami driving for the game tying field goal at mid field... not to mention the holding call on Marlon Moore on Thigpen's long punt return that set us up at midfield with 2 plus min's left... a point where we were thinking touchdown to win instead of field goal to tie. Not to mention the Koa Misi pass interference call... that doesn't get called the same way every time. Remember us a couple of weeks ago?

It's really tiresome for me. It just takes all the fun and competitiveness out of it knowing that the cards are seemingly stacked against us every game. It's like fighting a war with swords when the enemy is being supplied with machine guns. I'm just not enjoying it anymore. Maybe I'm getting too old lol...

By the way... why have Lamar Miller rip an 8 yard run only to not see the ball the rest of the game?

As for Jake Long and Sean Smith... They didn't do their agents any favors today... that is for sure. But to say that each one sucks and shouldn't be resigned is to not understand the situation. We still have 8 games left. Lets see how they finish out the season... and then how much money they are asking for before we make up our minds. Both players have earned that level of respect based on previous play. It's a complex situation for each and we don't have to make a decision right now.

IMHO, he's the least physical corner we have, generally has the worst coverage skills, and is a below average tackler. JMHO.

That said, I think we can agree he was well...bad, today. No?

Is Nolan Carroll outplaying Sean Smith? Boy today he sure did.

He was playing the most dominating wide receiver in the NFL this season, maybe that had something to do with it.

Despite Luck having a monster game and some horrible calls by the refs, the Dolphins only lost by 3 points and had a chance in the end. Dropped passes and missed field goals might have made it a worse loss for us but somehow we were still in it. The defense still kept them out of the end zone more often than not. I understand that if the calls went our way and the defense had gotten a couple of those close INTs then the game might have been a lot better.

Well, sounds like we're in agreement more than we're not. At least as far as today goes.

As for what he brings to the table in terms of an overall skill set, I think we'll just have to agree to disagree. :wink2:

Today was concerning to me for one reason. And some posters brought this up this week.

This was our first real test against a quality QB/quality passing offense since week 1, and we failed miserably. And no, I'm not calling Andy Dalton and the Bengals a quality passing offense yet.

I can't remember giving up so many 3rd and longs so easily maybe ever.

The pass rush was good, I thought, especially since we were rushing 4 almost exclusively. Dropping 7 in coverage and just getting burnt play after play was demoralizing. The defensive backfield let this team down today, and I'm worried that we have no shot at catching the Patriots until we figure it out.

Edit: And the amount of holding calls Indy got away with today was ridiculous. And to come back and call Jake Long for Holding and on the punt return, in addition to a phantom false start was simply "fishy"
