Hey Celtkin or whoever, I just made a donation of 20 dollars....as a fine for a goof up I made.....small goof but one nonetheless...so consider it a fine or donation or whatever..
but brought an idea to mind, if all the members are in agreement...not including the staff, that way it can't be said that they are dictatorial or imposing things or whatever..I am a member and I submit to other members, that maybe we can form some kind of penalty system that would benefit the site..
we could all hammer out, after they get the TOS done up, something like warning for 1st warning from admins, a small fine in the form of a donation of say 5 dollars for the 2nd, and an amount for the 3rd, and so on and if someone get's banished for a period of time for a violation maybe have a small fine to be paid after the suspension time to be reinstated.....just an idea to help with the site, but it needs to come from just the members and not the staff so no one can blame the staff or anything like that...
And maybe have it on the honor system...if you can't afford the fine then that is ok, but if you can then should pay it, but we all have to be in agreement or have a list of those in agreement that agree to abide by it. What do you guys think...Would be a good way to get some financial support for the site, and another good way to police ourselves in posting.
And things like, if it is a flame attack on another poster, depending on the degree, have a fine for each degree, or if cuss words are not allowed, maybe 50 cents or something for each cuss word...or some such...it can be ironed out if there are enough that want to participate. Ha...bad idea tho if everyone behaves...won't be any help for the site...but would be good that way too because would be a great site with nothing but great folks and posts...
So shoot me or tell me what you think? Just a suggestions...
Staff, really best that you not get involved at this point if that is ok with you...if enough are for it, then maybe we can get you guys to enforce it or something...but don't want anyone at this point to think this idea came from any staff or that they are trying to get support this way...this was totally MY idea and no one else had anything to do with it....
Another thought is have a set fine for a warning from mods and if you can and are willing to pay it do it..nothing forced on you...i.e. i just made an innocent mistake and got two members mixed up and embarassed myself and prob them, so I fined myself and paid..so what do the members here think or any varitaions on this you would like to discuss...or just tell me to forget it?.....t.hanks all...t:yes:

You basicly want a "Jag" court,.............not like the show, but a members court to hand out fines, for useless posts, or for someone who is just nasty etc.
Not bad, but enforcement would have to come from Mods or Admins, which is why it would be hard for members to do it. Plus there would be rumors of clicks, and who is making sure the 'Jag" court isn't abusive itself. All things to consider, but still a relevant idea. -
Yes I understand, that was why i suggested if there were enough for it, not everyone has to participate, just those that want, and not a forced thing, that the members draw up the rules and such without the staff and we can either police ourselves after that or let the staff police us and suggest to each one that is in the program of what the fine or whatever is that all the members agreed on or something...I don't mind policing myself like I just did, but just a thought....thanks Con...t

I don't think you can afford the fine of being a dookie fan. :tongue_smilie:

IMO, a poll should be posted for several days, perhaps a week to allow every eligible member an opportunity to review and decide as some or many may not be able to logon each day. If something was set up like this, IMO, each eligible [as in my suggestion] member should be PMed og the infraction and pending poll along with the link that shows the alleged offense. Otherwise, many people will not know whata is going on as i'm sure that i am not the only one that can/does not read every single thread/post in every forum here at our site. Anyway, just my suggestions! -
Hmmm. is that because unlike UNC Duke actually graduates players...:confused2:

Pandora's Box anyone?
Maybe we should have a site-sanctioned Abortion Clinic, funded by the Catholic Church and staffed by gays and lesbians as well. Since, clearly, we need more strife and conflict on this board.
Seriously, if someone does something that is so wrong that a fine should be levied, then chances are that person would either cause more problems by being fined or is a stand-up person enough to fine themselves.
If we were to have something like that, then i would say the fine should be in credits. If someone wants to do something so bad that they need to be fined real money, why not just kick the person out? They're obviously trouble-makers at this point, and serve no good purpose. -
not like you could enforce a fine anyhow...who's going to willingly pay?
-
Yep, I am pretty sure that is the first pre-requisite they look for....Whether or not they will succeed in the NBA?:pity: -
Mandy this is all your fault. Your fanhood starts trouble everywhere....
-
nah.
:tongue2: -

I rest my case your honor. -
anyways, this whole tiff needs to be taken up in another thread....thanks. -
nice thread jacking...
back to the original post, i think your heart is in the right place, but your notion would breed all sorts of trouble, resentment, and unnecessary labor.
Its very easy to donate here, and there's links and info galore on how to do so. If you have the extra time or money, people should just do so.IceDragon likes this. -
Also despite what some think, College is NOT mainly about sports. College is for education, sports is just extracurricular and Duke, as well as UNC both have top notch academics, especially Duke's medical program. More of Duke's recruits, I believe understand the value of a good education being foremost and then BB.t

Just my 2 cents here but that type of policy will only create animosity towards the site when all is said and done.
