In_Flames was over my place last night watching nfl countdown before the packers/colts game. They we're doing that stuipd "come on man" segment... Cris Carter was making fun of Keyshawn Johnson for riping his helmet off after a touchdown, and how Keyshawn was dancing..... Cris says "Looks like you gotta White Guy inside your body how your dancing" why is that ok? If it was Mike Ditka....and Brandon Stokley was running down the field...and Ditka said "its like he has a black guy inside of him, hes running so fast" would that not cause flak? would he not probably have to apologize? wtf... Im not the politcal correct type, i dont give a **** he said it....im just thinking along the lines "what if" the tables we're turned?
White men can't jump or dance. Haven't you seen movies? As for "getting away from the cops" speed, I support it. Anyone can run from the cops at 4.3 average speeds. Also, I don't think Brandon Stokely was eating chicken as he sprinted down the field. So he would've been way off on that one
right, the comon conception is "black people run fast" but if Ditka or any white guy said it, it'd be "wrong"
Yeah if you weren't the politically correct type I don't think the thought would have even crossed your mind. Just saying.
its odd to hear anyone on a professional show like monday night countdown use the words "like a white guy" "black guy" whatever.... so it caught my attention
that thought didnt cross my mind...i just think the double standard is bull**** dont you? ESPN should hold everyone to the same higher standard
I don't think its an actual double standard at least present in everyone in the community. I think its a standard some hold and some don't. Just as some white folks have double standards such as saying stop being so politically correct then getting upset when other races are not. I of course wouldn't though assume this to be anything other then a few people who don't see the folly in their logic and not a true double standard in the media, government, etc as others might think. The media, etc usually has to watch what they say because they are afraid of the advocacy groups. I'm sure if there was a white advocacy group to put pressure on these people that was effective it would cause them to make fun of white people dancing. Having said that I do think you have to watch racial humor as it can turn seemingly serious very quickly, and I think even be serious stuff disguised as a joke. If it makes you feel better I'm latino and I suck at dancing........
Waiting for this one: Commentator1: Ok, 4th and goal from the 1. Here's the snap, and the Running back jumps...Yes, Touchdown...over the goal line, way to go Miami. Commentator2: Wow, he crossed that boarder quicker than a Mexican! Commentator1: Yes, he did, Yes he did!
thats alot to read so........i didnt take the time. but i love you....and i can dance well. but only if C&C music factory is playing.......
Fun to poke holes in as well. When Brian Hartline blows by some shmoo DB for a long TD, what will they say then...come on...we all know.."he's really fast..for a white guy.." Probably not, it will go uncommented upon, to me Sick, the larger point is both Meshawn and Carter are ex NFLers, if they are saying that on camera, you know there is tons more going on when the cameras are off. Is it alright if I say Jared Odrick and Cam Wake's sack dance is as bad as I dance after two shots of tequila and a Foster's oil can?
Well, how many analysts in both TV and Radio were fired or resigned because of a similar comment the other way. Who was the ESPN dude who made a comment saying McNabb is overrated but people like him because he is black two years ago? It is what it is. It doesn't bother me aside from your initial WTF reaction. 3 seconds later is passes. lol
Rush Limbaugh - football Jimmy The Greek - football Al Campanis - Baseball commentators or Club brass its happened plenty....
Really? Name one company the size of ESPN where the lowest employee is treated the same as the CEO. There's no equality, on any level, in the business world. The problem here isn't racial injustice, its corporate injustice. No one lost their job because of the law, they lost their job because of loss of profit or the threat of the loss of profit. If a major group of white people started boycotting ESPN's advertisers, they'd get rid of Cris Carter. That probably won't happen though, because quite frankly, Caucasians don't have the history of oppression that would motivate them to act. There's not a magic theory as to why some of the most "on the defensive" groups of people in these matters are blacks and Jews. Its as if they have recent histories filled with atrocities or something... weird.
agreed about the lowest totem pole and highest.....but iam was comparing guys with the same position.....tv analysts...they should be held to the same standard, regardless of color or sex
Why though? The benchmark isn't what they can and can't say, its how much money they bring in or not. Since that's the only measurement of ANY employee, than the "equality" of what they're allowed to say is irrelevant. Bet you dollars to donuts, if Cris Carter started insulting black people, he'd lose his job, because black people would start to protest.
You should. I'm tired of the white people always crying about reverse racism, and never actually doing anything constructive to ensure real equality.
that segment is terrible. its like "not top plays" but with people just yelling "comon mannnnn" gets played out instantly.
it was better in the earlier instances of it. they'd actually take time to find jackass plays. now they just yell cmoooon man and expect people to continue laughing. hm, i guess it was a great segment.
Ofcourse their is a double standard but fact is their is no "white rights" groups to complain about it.... Some of the stuff turns my stomach really, example. A current rap song has a verse thats played on air talkin how all white girls swallow.... Would LOVE to see the uproar if a white guy said the opposite.
I was not bothered by that..although i was bothered by Mark Jackson calling Peyton Manning a "Cracka *** Cracka."
I have to agree with you, but that is the way this country is. What if, we had all white schools, what if, we had a all white TV station, like "BET" This is a very touchy subject, but I agree with you
I never get offended by anything no matter what and since the minority was the offender, it is less likely to cause a scene
In Chris Carters defense he did an interview years ago and refused to say black people were better athletes, he said that was a sterotype and followed it up by saying that then he would have to say white people were smarter players.
The only people who truly get offended when stuff like that is said is....the media. Theyre the ones who exploit it usually. Stupid stuff is said all the time and usually goes unnoticed until the news media, who have 24 hours to fill, find stuff than could be offensive to someone and then blow it up.
