http://www.miamidolphins.com/news/a...er-Notes/444f8401-39e7-467f-a59a-f651880a38c3 I like that he finds completions, I think his reads are fast forward. I mean think about that compliment for a minute.....a QB that finds completions, that is awesome!
Like the kid, but shorts/shells and him "finding completions" against UDFA corners and safetys is not something to throw a party for just yet..
Anyone else thought the title said Doughy Love, and then figured MikeHoncho would be in here....um....finishing....
Be interesting to see if we keep 3 Qbs on the roster. I would think if he makes a really strong impression we might.
I really hope not. Tannehill hasnt missed a start in his career (knock on wood)...I would hate to waste the roster spot for 3 QBs....if he has THAT much of a showing, I throw him in against the 2's in the 3rd preseason game....if he performs...cut Moore and keep him as #2. With Tannehills track record, and Moores price...Id hate to keep 3 QBs. Moore is on the downside of his career.
How do you figure that? I thought he held that clipboard just as well as he did the season prior. We keep Doughty because of his upside and just abiut any quarterback can do what Moore does.
Moore will be 32 when the season starts and hasnt started a game in 5 years......thats the downside of his career. Unless you're being funny and I missed it lol
When the coach makes the comment and others their at camp take a notice, I would say that is something. Why make a comment on it if it is the normal thing?
Just going off the observations of @FLSportDebater who is doing a fantastic job with play by plays: 1. Doughty had a few touchdowns on Friday. 2. Generally a lot of completions or drops. I see him noting 16 completions and 3 drops versus only 3 incompletions that happened either because the pass was batted away or because Doughty missed. I believe there were 2 sacks with another 2 plays (1 incomplete and 1 complete) that might have been sacks. 3. He got Jordan Phillips to jump off sides with a hard count. 4. The camp attendee in question believes Doughty's footwork looks "A LOT smoother" in drills than Tannehill's. 5. On the other hand the attendee noted on a missed sideline pass that Doughty "really doesn't have a lot of zip" on his throws.
Incidentally the high number of completions/drops is pretty normal for a practice setting. This camp attendee hasn't noted a whole lot of Tannehill passes hitting the ground either.
I heard that all QB's are dominating. no INT's in 4 days pretty impressive despite who they are going against.
No interceptions but that doesn't mean they're dominating. I think the DL is giving them fits and at other times they're having to hold the ball so long and check down to a guy that goes nowhere, and probably would have been sacked already before they released the ball.
well yeah, other then getting sacked like crazy Why holding the ball so long? that would imply that our WR are not getting open, which would be a negative since our DB's are thin.
We are keeping Matt Moore. He is due $1.4 mil this season, but if we cut him, we get an additional cap charge of $850,000 bringing his cap number to $2,250,000. So basically, we could pay him $1.4 mil to play or $2.25 mil not to play - pretty obvious decision. For a few years now, I have been kinda hoping to move away from Matt Moore. He has not looked nearly as effective in the preseason, and from what I can tell, he looks to have regressed. I think the only way that we cut Moore is if Doughty looks head and shoulders better than Moore. I think Doughty making the 53 depends on a lot of things (some that are out of his control). Injuries at other positions, special teams players, other players who have showed potential, and positional depth all can play a part in determining whether or not we keep three quarterbacks. It is really hard to tell at the moment.

Just trying to complete the ball. I think that’s been my M.O. my whole career is trying to just find completions, finding guys open and moving the chains, staying above the chains, staying ahead of them. That’s what I’m trying to do here, trying to bring that philosophy here for sure.” I don't think i get the entire progression thing, I think finding the completion is the way to go
When Doughty continues to look good and into preseason you can't really stick him on the practice squad or he could get poached.
Generally, yeah, but if two receivers are open hypothetically and the one receiver's route is slower-developing and has touchdown potential, you don't want to settle for the other receiver who may be open sooner but is less of a gain. That's what I think he is alluding to.
or that guy you see might already be open for a deep touchdown. Reading the progressions to me, is what you are describing.
I thought you were confused about his statement, when apparently you were confused about the notion. My mistake.
I was not referring to you, I was referring the coach, I can understand where YOU would get confused.

Being a Marshall fan, I've seen him play a lot in CUSA. The guy can play. I'm not sure he can play better than Tannehill, but he has an NFL future as a backup at the very least.
some good matchups between those 2 (WKU \Marshall) the last two years. Will be interesting to see how this year goes.
He's up against tough competition in camp in that Zac Dysert and Ryan Tannehill have the cannon arm he lacks. If he were playing next to just Matt Moore and say a Chad Pennington, he'd have an easier time.
His accuracy and his instincts I think are going to get Grant some good passes during preseason. I predict at least 3 touchdowns.
