Dr. Dog have toured with My Morning Jacket among others. They have an older sound. I played a show with them when they were known as Raccoon. A good song to start with is "The Old Days". It's off their new record "Fate". http://www.myspace.com/drdog
The Spinto Band is also from around me. I honestly can't tell you much about these guys with the exception that "Oh Mandy" is an awesome song and that they helped create the movie "Camp Blood: The Musical"; which is an awesomely funny B horror movie. http://www.myspace.com/thespintoband
