OK my fellow Dolphans...it's finally here! The 2011 NFL draft commences this evening, and we currently hold pick #15 in the first round. So, here's my question...
What is your perfect draft scenario? What are you hoping Ireland & Co. do tonight? Are you a Mallett Man? Ingram? Pouncey? Or, are you like me and hoping we trade down in an effort to garner more draft picks, albeit picking later and watching higher rated prospects come off the board?
I'll start by saying I hope we trade down at least one (maybe twice?) in the early going, then select BPA. I'm cool with that being one of the top rated Olinemen (i.e., Pouncey maybe?), or a RB (Ingram, Leshoure or Ryan Williams would work for me). Or, a TE along the lines of Rudolph or DJ Williams. I may even be OK with taking Mallett, assuming he's still OTB. Bottom line, I want more early round selections, and I'm really hoping we can trade down to acquire them.
But, that's just one man's opinion. Let's hear from you. What is your perfect draft scenario?

My "dream" draft:
-trade out of #15 for a late #1 and late #2:
#31 Mark Ingram
#62 Jerrel Jernigan
#79 Steve Wisniewski
#110 Dontay Moch
#146 Greg Romeus
#179 Dion Lewis
#217 Josh Portis
#218 Demarcus Van Dyke -

My dream draft is that Julio Jones somehow slips to us at #15. I think it is unlikely, but possible.
My other dream is that we take either Mallet/Ponder/Luck at 15 and he becomes the next Dan Marino. That would be cool.DolfanTom likes this. -
And most local sports radio should carry coverage but ESPN radio has the same analysts as the TV version does so perhaps just finding a local ESPN affiliate will carry it online via streaming.Phinj likes this. -
Von Miller was sitting there @ 15 .....

He will rightfully so become the #1 overall pick in the NFL draft and then dominate the NFL for years to come. The Panthers know this and we do not have the ammunition to trade up to get him. I can't even come up with a scenario where he slips far enough for us to be able to trade up to get him. Of course, if he drops to #3 and the Buffalo Bills draft him, he will surely become a bust and I'll heartily boo him any chance I can get.The G Man likes this. -
assuming A Smith is gone ... then Pouncey becomes the linch pin for this draft.
- IF PIT covets him as much as is let on ... then we have better leverage since we have drafted him, and they'd have no choice but to 'pay' for him in a pseudo draft and trade.
- if not, then hopefully we've solved an immediate need and much of our OL situation - but stuck with no 2d RD pick.
it's a 'slight' risk - but seems worth the cost either way. -
My dream sequence would be to show some guts and move up in the draft and get aj green, by offering your 1st pick, a 4th rd this year and your 1st rd pick next year and finally get an impact superstar player. It would never come true under our management but then again this is a dream.

My Dream is we trade back in the first round and get a second round Pick. We Take Mallet with our first and then Ryan Williams with our second. And somehow get greg Little or another Wr later

An ideal 1st round would be a trade down from #15 and pick up a late 1st round, a second and a 3rd or 4th rounder depending on the value chart. #15 would undoubtedly be a good value but good value can also be gotten later in the 1st and additional picks are definitely needed. There is a lot of value in that 2nd round for the Dolphins to sit by and watch all of the picks made and not having one themselves.

In order of importance:QB>OL>offensive skill players

Mark it down-- The draft of all drafts. :shifty:
Trade back:
1. RB- Mark Ingram.
2. WR- Greg Little.
3. LB- Nate Irvin. (Mason Foster 2nd choice).
4. TE- Virgil Green. (Jordan Cameron 2nd, Rob Housler 3rd).
5. CB- Buster Scrine. (Curtis Marsh 2nd, Cortez Allen 3rd)
6. OLB- Greg Romeus.
7. RT- David Mims.
7. RB- Nic Grigsby. (COP back)
7. RB- Graig Cooper.
(LG in free agency-- Harvey Dahl) -
Trade back once for a 4th. Trade back for a 2nd again. Trade back once more for a 4th round pick and you'll find yourself somewhere at the top of the second round. Expect something like Mikel Leshoure and Ryan Williams back to back. Expect a WR in round three, a receiving TE, a speed rusher, and a developmental QB to round out that group. I agree with Harvey Dahl in free agency. He'd complete that offensive line. Henne can't succeed with that, he's a bum.
I really do see Pouncey as being a great target though at LG. You pick him you form something long-term. I've waited a long time to see a true winner in Miami. If you want to make a team that lasts keep feeding the best part of it new players.
LT- Long
LG- Pouncey
C- Incognito
RG- Jerry
RT- Carey
Perhaps next year you pick a first round right tackle to replace Carey. Others may see it as pointless to spend so much on the lines, but every year I watch and see just how effective it is spending on the lines in football and doing it with high draft picks.ToddsPhins likes this. -
Trade back with SD and pick up a second rounder to move back to 18.
Trade back with Pitt and pick up another second rounder to move back to 31 with Pitt (or earlier with NE)
Draft:
RB Ingram later round 1
QB Mallett, Ponder, or Kaep late round 2
Best OL or WR available later round 2
We need to score and all 3 selections help us to that end. -
I'm dreaming that we trade down twice, out of the first round if necessary, to get 2 2's and 2 3's and then take:
2-Ryan Williams
2-Greg Little
3-Orlando Franklin
3-Jordan Toddman
4-Virgil Green
CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
I'm with Con, these QB's are garbage but some people have the QB Beer goggles on. Lets see what Henne can do this year, and if he doesnt step up we can go QB shopping next year, AFTER we fire Sparano.ToddsPhins and finsbuck719 like this. -

My dream draft right now:
Trade down with the Patriots (yes, I know…) for 28, 33, and 74.
#28: Danny Watkins, OG/T, Baylor
#33: Christian Ponder, QB, FSU
#74: Ryan Williams, RB, Virginia Tech (hey, it’s a dream, shut up)
#79: D.J. Williams, TE, Arkansas
#111: Edmond Gates, WR, Abilene Christian
#146: Sione Fua, NT, Stanford
#179: Dion Lewis, RB, Pitt
#217: TJ Yates, QB, North Carolina
#218: Byron Stingily, OT, Louisville
#235: Justin Boren, OG, Ohio StateGMJohnson likes this. -
My perfect draft scenario:
-Stay away from QBs in this draft. I feel like every Dolphins fan is getting too desperate to the point where they are overrating all of these prospects. We can win with Henne. We've done it before. I just think it would be too much of a waste to use a 1st rounder on a QB to compete than on a playmaker that can come in and contribute right away.
-We need to get one of the top 5-6 TEs. Stocker, Rudolph, Kendricks, DJ Williams, Virgil Green, and Julius Thomas. I think it is a huge need, even if they come in to be a #2 TE. It at least gives our offense different looks and all of those guys have tremendous potential.
-We can't neglect RB in the higher rounds. I'm a fan of almost every RB rated in the top 10-15 or so. I wouldn't lose any sleep if we take any of those guys in the first 3-4 rounds. However, if we pass up on them and go after some projects in the later rounds I won't be happy. We have 1 RB whose never started before under contract and we don't know what will happen in FA.
-I still think WR is one of our top needs. Whether it is getting a guy to be a #2 WR or a guy that is a speedster that can make player and be our #4 WR.
-I would love for us to trade down at least once, possibly twice in the 1st. Also, I wouldn't mind trading down in the 3rd if there are still a lot of prospects on the board. If we could pick up an extra 4th, while keeping a late 3rd, that could mean the difference between getting someone like Virgil Green or not. The more picks, the better.
-I don't want to focus on defense early, but I wouldn't mind a CB or pass rushing OLB in the middle rounds. (ie. Shareece Wright, Chimdi Chekwa, Bruce/Chris Carter, Dontay Moch, etc...)ToddsPhins likes this. -

Well I'll ask you this:
What if they pull off Mallet, draft one of Hunter/Leshoure in the 2nd, a speed WR in the third, with SD's third they draft a TE, and in the 4th they draft a change-of-pace back. Then they sign the famous Harvey Dahl. -

LOL @ Prisco giving the Titans a "C" because Locker is the quarterback HE would've chosen. If you would've taken Ponder at 8, you should give yourself an "F", Pete.
