thanks, we were glad he fell..... we were going to take him with our first 2nd rounder, but felt we had to take bowman with him still on the board to strengthen our LB's and solidify our defense...so went in that direction. we were pleasantly surprised Matthews was still on the board and had two other 'just in case' options...
It was a nice pick, and some in here are on record as saying he was probably the 2nd best back in the draft, HOWEVER, he will do really nice as a backup and change of pace. Several reports I read have stated SERIOUS injury concerns. Of course, you really never know. That could all very well be behind him.
I'm just reporting what I repeatedly read night before last. If it was one report, that's one thing, but this was several. While healthy, he is very good....just wouldn't count on him carrying it more than a dozen times a game....or so the reports go.
i read the scouting report on one guy yesterday from 3 different sites...they were all pretty much word for word
Which means 1 was right and the other two will also be, or one is wrong and boom goes the dynamite. The reports I read varried, but all had a common theme. Of course none of us really know for sure. Without the weight of such articles, we would all be drafting blind.....cept for Alen of course.
Not working today, but woke up early (on PST) to make the pick. By the way, two very good picks before mine. I was shocked Matthews fell that far. I was going to have to seriously consider him at my pick even though I have no need at HB. Also love Worilds. Still one more player though out there who I think is just outstanding value at this point.
Agreed on both picks. I am not really knocking Mathews, and I did try to some extent to move up to get either he or Worilds with the 50. Both are really really nice picks at this juncture. Mathews to me is Leon Washington with LOTS more power and size. Once again, the guy you bring in after a defense is on its heals, and let him destroy them.
Wasn't that your reaction after I took Baluga and then again after I took Tate? I'm pi$$ing you off more than I am Dallas.
I was trying pretty hard to move up to 48 or 49 ahead of sebo because i had a gut feeling sebo was taking worilds or norwood. Lucky he took my 2nd choice. Thanks for the nice words.
I would say that our draft boards have been very similar, with you having the advantage of chosing before me each time. I am still very happy with my two picks so far. If the consolation is that you're pissing Dallas off, I can live with that.
Interesting trade up by Tampa who wanted to move in this area of the draft. Lets see who this is for....I have a sneaking suspicion.
good lord its a writeup not an essay for a western civilization midterm cant you just make the pick and edit in your write-up?
I'll be honest I looked at the picks and Dallas had 3 picks, Minny 2, as well as yourself and Green Bay. I felt like there was just too much daylight between him, and while I like the other TE prospects quite a bit I think this kid has a chance to be special.
I really like Norwood too, but you were never in any danger of me taking him here. I had four guys that I thought were good value here. Worilds, Matthews, and two other players that have not been picked yet. Fortunately, the Bills took Matthews and kept me from taking a running back when I already have Gore, Benson, and Coffee. lol. Also, great move by Tampa!
worked out well for both of us then but when I was looking at your roster I thought for sure OLB could be in play there. Thought right I guess, just happy it wasnt my player
naw i was too busy taking cal 3 and linear algebra. Don't get mad at me future womens volleyball coach.
i'll be sure to tell my advisor to skip all journalism and radio classes and proceed onto physical education classes. getting mad on the internet wont do you any good for whatever path you go, chief.
Interesting move by VO. Definately an all or nothing type pick, but I do think its a good value pick at this juncture. What makes you say he's the 2nd besat TE in the draft? Much like JPP, its nearly impossible to guage what he will be in the pros? Not nessicerily saying I disagree, just curious.
