Physical ability more than anything. That and I think he's got the desire to be one of the best. Don't get me wrong. I actually think this is a decent class of TEs. In fact had the trade fallen through I would have went with a different TE at 67. But when I did my evaluations, pretty much every TE had a flaw, whether that was injuries, size, speed, etc. I don't necessarily see those flaws with Graham. He's just raw. That said I see a very driven player who looks like he wants to get better. So I went with the guy that looks like he could be the complete package in the NFL. I have enough depth at TE that it's well worth the pick, especially since Norv Turner has been down that road before.
Well stated. Like I said, he will indeed either be the next Antonio Gates (in a couple years) or be out of the league within a couple of years. For a team that doesn't "Need" a TE, he's great value IMHO.
so i went from having 2 2nd round picks and a ton of needs. to now having 2nd (aaron hernandez) a 3rd, a 4th, a 5th, 2 6ths and a 7th. woot.
Nicely done SICK. I am starting to see a method to Alen's madness. Not going after the Flash glamour guys as much as the solid steady performers. Nice pick Seattle.
not in the first round i didnt. i wasnt goin ot in the 2nd, but with him still on board, i cant pass up. besides ive still got 3 of the next 10 picks or so to fill other needs and hope my other players drop
Son of a *****!!!!! Butlers gone now too?! dam first Norwood now Butler. SHIIIIIII*t Oh well didnt think they would be there anyway just started getting my hopes up, dsm nice pick Alen
Very very good value Dallas, he was one of the four I was considering in my trade up, just because of the value. Another good draft being put together by you.
Trying to figure out the pick that Dallas made. I understand you need OT but Dallas has always had engulfing OT's and that's what it appears that you have on your roster now. Why Brown? He's the complete opposite of that.
i figured youd say that by all the reports i read up on. free is merely 313 lbs, and flozell, while he's the motel, aint gettin any younger. last year on the team, with free and brown on the outside as the future. times change, these arent the days of larry allen and erik williams.
I had a board of fifteen for my pick 80 and I initially didn't have him there because I didn't think he would make it to the pick. Then I decided he would fit perfectly in my scheme and that need outweighed all my other needs so I had to move up. I gave up picks, which I hate doing, but I felt it was necessary.
I know they change and I didn't mean to criticize you, sorry if it came off like that, I'm just interested in the thinking behind the pick. I'm a geek so I want to learn everything (football related). Are you planning on going to more technical bookends? Is that a transition you had in mind? The good thing about that pick, IMO, is that he can sit and learn. He is incredibly raw IMO and he needs to learn a lot but great upside.
I'd like to thank you for not picking Butler at 51 and moving out of 53. I thought you were going to take Donald Butler.
Lol. I felt he was worthy of a trade up, especially for my scheme. Btw, who is "we"? Schisno still around?
We're working together, just not as vocally as others. We mainly just compare draft boards and go from there. It's more or less of him echoing what I shouldn't do... I don't know how he felt about trading up for Morgan but meh.. I thought it was a good move.
I was mildly surprised Gronkowski was still there. I know his back injury has been a big red flag, but he had a great pro day that I thought might get him taken a little bit earlier.
Nice pick Green Bay. I think it will take him a year or two, but he can be a premiere 34 OLB. Me hope Tuna thinks the same thing.
I was a little surprised as well. I considered him earlier but I didn't feel like I needed another TE because I am pleased with my current ones. Could be a good player for you.
It sucks watching people pick and I have draft picks. I just don't like that I can't get everyone. Luckily, all my top targets have been available to me. Good thing I haven't been Buckeyekinged yet.
Interesting run on linebackers here in the second round, eight of them off the board and we're not done with the round yet. After seeing Alen trade up for Butler, I'm even more glad I took Lee when I did
Sorry about the slow pick guys but I was stuck at work until now and the when I left in the AM, we were only on pick 47.
Thanks Alen, I feel like he is a perfect fit in Baltimore. I wouldn't be surprised to see him drafted by them in a few weeks, as well.
