He was going to be my target when I traded up, anyway. There was a lot of back and forth, but it happened.It worked out well. Plus, BK got Kevin White for RT17, who I believe will have a great year so... awesome.
I can't believe I actually landed Mariotta. I wanted to do whatever I could to get him into the Eagles system. I decided to take him #1 overall because I thought he wouldn't be there if I didn't. I believed that Cleveland, Tennessee, or some mystery team (Green Bay) would take him. Winston was never really an option for me. Don't get me wrong, he has the chance to be a very good, if not great, QB, but putting Mariotta and Chip Kelly together was something that just had to happen. FFG and 305 were both fantastic to work with - that's a pretty crazy deal involving a bunch of first round picks and some very good NFL players. We've been working on an iteration of this trade, off and on, for probably about 2 months - certainly before the start of free agency. The toughest part was not saying anything when other GMs approached me about moving up. I now have some cap room - so if you find that you're a little bit tight and may not be able to sign some rookies, hit me up. I'm looking for an experienced G, CB, or DE. I've got picks 52, 84, and 95 to work with. If not, Chip tells me he's perfectly happy going in 10 million under the cap.

Well you did get Allen with the 49ers in 2013, but you lost Beckham to BK and the Jets in 2014 sadly.
