The draft is over but many personnel issues remain on the table for a number of teams and players. There are trades that didn't happen but still might. There may be some scary holes that still need to be repaired. Drafting decisions have shed some new light on just how some franchises view the players they have (or had) on their rosters. Of course, the work is not over.
3. Jason Taylor, DE, Dolphins. The Jaguars appeared to be interested before the draft but they took two solid pass rushers in the draft and it would surprise me if there was any remaining interest. I could see a team like the Panthers, that just lost Mike Rucker to retirement and didn't take an end until the seventh round, think about it -- even though they already surrendered their first-round pick in 2009. The only teams that really make sense for Taylor are teams that are one player away from a serious run (and the compensation has to come down a bit). Once again, a staggered deal based on production makes sense. Tampa Bay didn't take a DE and Taylor would be a great piece to put the Bucs over the top. A deal for a third-round pick that would go to a second if he has more than 10 sacks sounds reasonable to me at this point and maybe a young player to close the deal

Eh, I'd still hold out for a 1st rounder at least. With a defense on the mend, you still want to field at least one very good player.

Personally, I think we are going to wait and then trade him mid-season like we did last year with Chris Chambers. I think we do that for a couple reasons. First off, he will then hopefully be done "dancing with the stars." Then it will give other interested teams to check out how he is playing and decide if they are interested. I would love to get a 1st rounder back, but I think a 2nd and a 4th or 5th is more likely.

Wonder if anybody will be willing to take him then. There was an article on draft day about Jason Taylor and a reporter asked him questions regarding his future. He said that he would deffinitely play this year but isn't sure about next year.
You could make a case that a team that is one player away could trade for him but do we get that first or second rounder if he might not play the following year? I think his value will be tricky depending on his decision of his future in this league. -

If we trade him midseason, he won't be worth two draft picks...I doubt even a second rounder, especially with his comments about playing in 2008, but not sure about 2009....
I think if he makes it past TC, he'll be ours until after the season... -
I bet he'll go before the season starts. There is just too much bad blood going around for it to carry over into the season at this point. I mean can you see Parcells and Co. budging from their position to meet JT in the middle? I know I sure as hell don't.

From this point on, any trade value we would get for JT would be lowered. I believe we could have gotten a #1 pick for Chambers, had the trade happened before the seasons started. I'd much rather have JT in training camp, disgruntled and all, to go up against Jake Long every day in practice. IMO, there's no better way to help his development than to allow him to battle the 2006 Defensive Player of the Year. 10 sacks should equate to more than just a second round pick.
