I don't play enough EA games to make it worth my while. I'd love to hear an early review from someone though!
I wrote a little something something on it lol http://www.gophins.com/content.php?135-Madden-13-The-Official-GoPhins-First-Look Hi by the way :*
Anyone buy this last night. Got about two hours of my franchise done. So far, I really like it. My first Madden buy in years.
Anyone know where to find the current standings in franchise mode? Looking to make some trades and I want high picks.
I bought it last night but I only played one superstar preseason game. Hopefully I'll get more time to play during the week but we'll see... damn campaign commercial spots have me super busy this week. I really can't give a fair review yet but here is what I think based on one PRESEASON game... - Loved the intro video they did... I can honestly say it is the second best one (Drew Brees intro was BY FAR the best in Madden 11). - I really like the Madden theme music too... it's catchy. - The twitter/media type thing they have going on in the connected career modes is really slick. - I tried the Gameface thing and I never want to see my own face in a video game again. Thanks, EA. - I seen a few abnormality glitches that Mor was talking about; it doesn't bother me but it will bother some. - I am strongly considering waiting to start a franchise until they update the rosters. Tannehill as a 70? C'mon, gimme a 75 rating or something. - The preseason line-up is annoying... they don't have the 90 man roster or anything but second string guys like Hartline/Gates play from the 2nd quarter on basically. - They brought in the second string punters in the second half... aka the place kickers. They punted probably 25 yards max each. This should be fixed; not a huge problem but annoying. - The presentation was very nice. - And it rained in my only preseason game thus far in Miami... soooo the game is at least realistic in that sense.
As far as Tannehill being 70 overall I believe that is just for the first few games until his production rating isn't a 0. I was reading that all rookies are like 3-4 points lower to start off.
forget Mor's review.....this guy has a pinpoint assessment of the new game....especially at 7:49 minutes in.....
Yeah, Tannehill at 70 is a joke. In my first franchise (coach), I was just testing **** out, not taking it serious. I took too long in the draft, and the CPU drafted a 2nd round QB who came out rated 76... Tannehill was 78 after I upgraded him after a full year starting. That's some B.S. IMO... I hope draftees don't progress faster than in game rooks like in previous years. I'd be really annoyed. That's something that has always annoyed me. I love player progression though. If your guys meet their season stat expectations, they get loaded with points at the end of the year. I like that. Kind of a situation where you can add little progressions to make them better during the course of the year (as it happened with Tanny) or you can load up for the good ****. Early on with rooks, I don't see a good reason not to add in the little **** unless your dude is already a stud. With Jake Long, I save. He's going to dominate regardless of a few points here and there in pass blocking/run blocking. Someone like Tanny, it makes sense to add little by little. Awareness was my first choice. His short/medium passing numbers are already pretty sweet. One aspect of franchise is total and complete garbage... and that's trades. No longer are there "madden trades." Hell, there are no longer any good trades period... I haven't put guys on the trade block yet, so I'll see what comes up. The only trade I did was at the start of year 2. Pats put up Aaron Hernandez and I traded Reggie Bush for him. Good deal for me, I'll be doing that in year 2 as well. Our TE's suck at everything. I also plan on drafting more TE in the future because I'm using NE's playbook and it's awesome... Getting 2 TE would make me awesome as hell. Especially if I get a pass catcher and upgrade his run blocking as best I can. Anyway, the trading sucks. It doesn't work. I tried trading Jake Long all year (no trade block though, so we'll see how that goes). I offered some good deals. Jake is a monster too. Despite teams having 4 bars of interest, no go. Maybe it's more realistic, but less fun, IMO... I'm not saying EA needs to make trades unrealistic, but trading needs massive improvement. Hopefully they'll fix it soon enough. Also, I hate how when you make an offer, the offer isn't rejected or accepted on the spot. I have to back out, and check the current weeks progress to find out. It's ****ing annoying as hell. The old way is 100x better. Not sure why EA messes with **** that doesn't need fixing. It's like when they goof'd up field goal kicking a few years back. They changed it for no reason, when it was perfect (for the record, it's back to the way it used to be). So far, I'm addicted. I'm really enjoying this game. I'm in the process of moving so the next few days so I won't get to play as much as I want.
If true I'm glad they fixed trading then, the trade system has been broken for years, hopefully it's that way in online ccm, in previous online franchises you could trade anyone for anyone.
I don't mind more strict guidelines. I do mind not being able to play the game the way I want. I've never been someone who cheats the CPU. It takes the fun away. That said, there is No flexibility anymore and an element of fun has been taken away IMO. If we had fantasy drafts, it would be more tolerable. Anyone know how to access the trade block besides my career? I want to see every teams. Oh, and the NFL draft. Talk about abuse. Im about to become the next belichick and trade down like a boss. Mid second picks go for next years #1 and next years 2nd for 3rd round picks. Can't wait. And after year 1, I'm buying the scout xp package to drop a ton of points into the future. Gotta get Tanny some weapons! Right now I'm in week 2 of my first season as a strategist. I did practice already and about to **** Oakland up.
You have to watch it and keep saying to yourself "he is "reviewing" Madden" then he goes off on totally other stuff....2k, taxes hikes in Maryland, his Xbox saga.... so funny...
So trade update... I pulled off one last night. I offered Philly two third round picks and Clyde gates for desean Jackson. got er done. Pretty surprised it went through. Glad it did though. Also, a bunch of teams offered me a 2014 1St round pick for Karl's dansby. I'll be pulling the trigger on that one before the deadline is over. Use him for now. At 30 I imagine he'll be on the decline. Plus I can draft his replacement next year or the hear after. Question about ccm. When you change the scheme of a position, does it always revert back the next week? mine seems to and it pisses me off to end. Also, When u upgrade something inherit to a position, does it work only in sim? I want to give can't wake a bull rush move, but I don't know If there's anyway to use it in the game...
I finished week one of my franchise mode... wound up losing to the Texans in OT; stupid Andre Johnson. I did manage to trade a 5th round pick for James Jones after KC wouldn't trade me Dwayne Bowe for Vontae Davis... so I decided just to keep Davis. The gameplay is really good from the one regular season game I played on franchise mode. I brought back Ted Ginn Jr too... aaaand he ran a kick for a TD.
Not that I would consider it cheating... more, using all your utilities. But you can view draftees overall rating and scheme before draft day by going to Strategy>Team Needs> and selecting a position. Sometimes its off a few points but its pretty accurate. Just throwing that out there.
Not buying Madden 10 again. Done with football games until that license is gone and 2k can make something worthy. Last year I skipped Madden for the first time since PS1. Didn't miss it at all. The only EA game worth buying yearly is Fifa.
Didn't try. I was using their new trade block. I was offered a ton of different options for him. GB offered a 6 and James Jones. I had one team offer a 2014 first.
I saw him sitting there in FA and almost did the same thing. Almost. Lamar Miller is my return man. I picked up Merriman...he got hurt in preseason.
