Eagles named former offensive line coach Juan Castillo as defensive coordinator.
It's a pretty unprecedented move for an ex-offensive line coach to all of a sudden coordinate the defensive side. Castillo, however, coached linebackers and the defensive line to start his coaching career at Texas A&M-Kingsville, and the Eagles have long been high on his ability to coach up and motivate players. That they've coaxed longtime Colts OL coach Howard Mudd out of semi-retirement softens the blow to Philadelphia's offense. Still, we'd expect plenty of criticism in Philadelphia for the Castillo "conversion."
