these guys are full of ****, and the Dolphin team has become their whipping post, when you think about the Saints scandal and the player punishment coming up they should be all over that.

What would be best is actually "feeding" us fans something this draft weekend, a dramatic trade back and then picking Weeden, or whatever just toss us a bone and spare us "good football move" pablum.

FWIW, I do not believe Tannehill is more then a developmental Qb prospect, to my mind there is not a whole lot that seperates Tannehill from Osweiler and Weeden is a far better prospect in my mind, unlock value from the 8th pick and still land a Weeden, or take a Wr, just something other then overdrafting yet another linemen.

 

Draft a mainstay like Kuchely, hit on a pass rusher in the 2nd. (Im not high on Weeden but I see some value if he drops to 43) Get atleast one WR with your 3rd's go BPA then wait and see.

 

From my pov, there is little difference between Decastro and Kuehcly, neither move the meter very much FinO, probably will be fine players but they both would be overdrafted at #8 and neither are game changing players, neither scored Td's etc.

I feel like Moore and Garrard are both good Qb's who can be top 15 Qb's, the problem is a punchless offense that got worse by trading Brandon Marshall, he must be replaced successfully or this will be a long season.

 

Exactly, with the emergence of guys that are coming in and succeeding right away recently, i.e ryan, flacco, newton, etc. everyone is getting used to that. A QB coming in as a rookie is supposed to be raw and take some time to sit and adjust to the NFL. I hate how the media is expecting Luck to be the greatest QB of all time, I heard Kiper say Luck is expected to be a Hall of famer, no joke, I mean come on. It's not fair to these guys.

I understand where your coming from but I dont think we should "overdraft" just for the sake of overdrafting. If Blackmon makes it to #8 I feel like he has some value there and would be a great pick. But I cant get on board with overdrafting Floyd when IMO there isnt much of a gap between him and a handfull of the 2nd round WR's. I can deal with drafting consistent GOOD starters like a Pouncey last year instead of reaching at a position like WR wich has a high bust potential.

From what I can see this draft is deep at T, WR, DE, DT....I feel like there is alot of good talent at the top 5-6 at each of those positions, so ideally trading down would be the best case scenario but the problem is more teams seem to be looking to do the same.

I'm hoping at pick #8 Thursday Fletcher Cox and Richardson are sitting right there for the taking and Miami is able to work some magic and trade back and add more picks to what I think is a pretty damn good top 100 kids this year. But if not??? Im ok with a MLB that will lead this defense for 10+ seasons.

 

I agree, If we took Floyd I would be very upset for the same reasons you stated. If we did get Kuechly our linebacker corp. would be scary. I think we would see a lot more plays made by Burnett.

 

All things equal, for us DeCastro would have more of an impact then Kuechly as we simply must improve the offense.

That said, I'd happily take Floyd or Blackmon of the two I really like Floyd as I feel he has that size/explosion mix you look for in a Wr he reminds me a bit of Irving Fryar.

Head to head, I think Cox makes more of a measurable impact then DeCastro, but DeCastro is more what we need with Richie I moving to RG, that would leave RT as the position of contention and we have Murtha and Jerry and even Garner to compete there.

 

We NEED to improve everywhere imo.

The defense was ranked 15th overall and we dont have a true MLB in the 4-3. I think Nolan's brilliance made our defense appear better than it actually is, so to me it is more important to HIT on your picks more than it is to reach for a glaring need.

In short, this team is in shambles and improvement is needed pretty much everywhere.

 

Not at all, Dansby has played MLB in the 4-3 before and did fine. And the D finished top 6 overall, and the new Defcord did great in Cinci with less talent then we have on Defense.

The team is far from a shambles, you are offbase there FinO, the team lacks playmakers at Wr and a LG.

And Dansby averages less than 100 tackles for his career and hasnt shown any signs of being worth the $$, also at 30 how valuable is he really when this team isnt likely to be in the playoffs in a regular basis for a while. He would be just as AVERAGE as an OLB as he would a MLB and Luke imo provides an instant upgrade.

As far as the DC goes I hope you are 100% correct but only time will tell if he makes this unit better than Nolan did.

While I agree this team lacks a WR and a G I have to disagree it stops there. The only position on this team that has a solid combination of talent and youth is at DT, any other position could stand an upgrade. Im not opposed to drafting a playmaker but IAM opposed to reaching for a position that appears to be deep when it is obvious we are not a position or 2 away from mattering in this league.

The job of the defense is to allow as few points as possible and Miami was the 6th best defense in the NFL at doing that.

 

I noticed that, on the surface I agree that is more significant than YPG. But let's be honest with ourselves, do you really think we were the 6th best defense in football? I would lean no. We are a long way from being a team that should feel good about itself on either side of the ball. If it was truely the 6th BEST defense in the NFL, they would have never fired their DC and switched schemes. And to the point, it has holes also that need to be addressed.

 

I think it's really hard to judge the defense because they were basically two different defenses during the season. They were terrible and out of shape for the first half of the season but then became much much better in the second half.

 

I know the ranking goes by YPG but I think the true stat in ranking a defense should go by points because that is what really matters. I think our defense is above average but I wouldn't put it up there at the top, we don't get off the field enough on 3rd down and we lack the ability to make that big play when we need it. Except for about 2 times i.e the redskins and jets game.

 

Any prospect other than Luck is going to be raw, hell he'll have his ups and downs, the Colts have nothing.
Its time this team takes a chance on a QB. The rookie cap minimizes the aftereffects of swinging and missing.

This isn't Madden. This is the new reality in the NFL. You cannot win big consistently without a franchise QB. That is not arguable. Because of that QB needs to be priority in our drafting till we find our guy. The stats, the history all point to needing that QB being gotten in the first round or close, Brady being the once a generation exception. Think of it like this, at 8 all but 2 qbs are available. Taking one there gives you the best chance of getting one because the pool is bigger. QBs are boom or bust anyway, so the best thing to do is take one as high as possible because you have more options.

 

It doesnt matter that Quinn busted, you take the best avalible QB at this point. That is Tannehill, if Weeden was younger than you take him here.
This is THE NEED. You lose alot of fans if you take someone like Cousins in the 5th.
And chances are we will not be bad enough to draft Barkley or the kid from Tennessee.

He said back in January that he would get a franchise QB for the team. That's public knowledge. Whether Tanny is that guy or not is debatable, but it surprises no one that Ross wants a QB that he thinks can be a franchise guy... I don't know that fans wanted Quinn all that badly. I think the issue of that draft was the fact that they really mislead just about everyone as to their desire for Quinn. I think most fans were more upset by 'Ted Ginn, Jr. and his family' than by not getting Quinn...At least, that's the way I saw it back then...
