There we have it, another complete failure by the Jests. Now before those mongoloid, mouthbreathing neanderthals spout off that "HERP DERP HERP At least we made it this far!" Every one of you was thinking the Jests would reach the SuperBowl. EVERYONE and in SOJ fashion you fall flat on your asses. To say otherwise would be a giant cop-out. The only difference between Miami Dolphins fans and Jets fans right now is that we dont fantasize about getting sodomized by Snookie and The Situation. And we actually are.... you know...human. How sweet it is that yet another NY team will enter another decade of irrelevance! (the other two being the Knicks and Mets) How many players wont return for the Jets? Oh thats right, a ****load. Good luck with that.
In fatass two seasons, he's lost to us 3 out of 4 times. He has nothing to show for what he's done in NY. They are done, they won't be back and fireman Ed can kiss my arse just for the he'll of it.
A longer vacation, more tee times........I guess what the Jets have done is something amazing, Im so happy for them.
Its fine to admire the jets, but given their panache for talking **** I don't think you should expect everyone else to do the same.
I normally wouldn't say an AFC Championship game is a failure. But...Rex proclaimed them for the past year that they would reach the Super Bowl. He wrote it on a bus this summer when the Saints were the defending champs. That is why the season was a failure for them. They also were open about wanting to win now with all those short contracts and traded draft picks, not caring as much about what the team will look like in 2-3 years. Rex Ryan is the reason their season was a failure.
I love that they lost. LOVE IT!!!!! But I hate that Mark Sanchez played well. I was hoping for an absolute implosion at the hands of the Steelers D. He wasn't lights out, but he was pretty damn decent.
Completely discounting another pretty impressive playoff run by the Jets. Some of you sound like...well...Jets fans.
no one hates the Jets more than me, but Rex Ryan is the reason for them reaching 2 straight AFC championships (along with their superior GM). He motivates his players and gets them to overachieve. We all hate Rex Ryan, but we'd love him if he was our coach. The only reason they can't make it to the big game is because they are one of the only teams with a worse QB corps than us.
Jets D cost them the game. Its epic fail because that is supposed to be their strength. I wonder if they have peaked already.
I have been doubting this guy was the last two years but I can't anymore, the fact is he a gutsy QB who steps up in big games.
actually this was an epic fail due to how they structured their team. They have 12 free agents and over ten players on the wrong side of 30. This team was built to win now and they failed. From here on out they get a little worse every year. Their window has closed and they have nothing to show for it. People complain about our team but we are young and built for continued success if we can add a few more pieces. We built our team the right way and if we get a QB who can step up the play we will have our own shot very soon
Eh, there was more luck to the Jests getting to the playoffs than anything else. They could have just as easily been 7-9 instead of 11-5. And last season they were handed the playoffs by some 3rd string players. Sure, they played pretty well once they got there, but still not good enough. I don't think their loss to the Steelers was a "fail". They aren't as good a team as them and should have lost. A fail was when the Patriots lost to the Giants in the 2007 Super Bowl.
I sure hope you're right. But it seems like the Jets have been doing the right things in the offseason to continue to be successful. I won't pretend to know about their cap situation or how the lack of labor agreement will or won't affect things. All I know is last year we were all crowing about how they wouldn't be able to do anything in the offseason because of some silly rule concerning the labor agreement and all the Jets did was sign about every significant free agent with the exception of Brandon Marshall. What scares me more is Sanchez. If he continues to develop, and third year being the year most QBs really hit their stride, his progression will more than make up for any loss of talent on the defensive side of the ball, IMO.
Not at all. Regardless of their 12 free agents this is going to be a good team as long as Rex is coaching it. Sanchez has proven he is an NFL QB. I just wonder if they are going to be a team in the mix for years that can't get over the hump. I have seen it for years with the Eagles and Andy Reid. Its early but we'll see.
If the shoe was on the other foot, we would be boasting about how close we came. They knocked the Patsies from the playoffs and I was happy about that. I was happy they lost too, but I don't want to see Rothisraper win another SB. I'm rooting for Rogers and the Packers all the way. The jest looked very slow and old on defense yesterday. I wonder how they fix that. It seemed to me they were trying to force LT on the running plays instead of using the better Green.
well i may be wrong but i seem to remember them owing something like 95 million to about 35 players next year so they are on cap hell. additionally they have about 5 players that are 34 or older another 5 that are about 32 or older and 12 free agents that they are going to have a hard time resigning due to their cap problems. The Jets window is closed. Its us and The Patriots again. The Jets are done
While I agree with you that we need to make sure our RB situation is solidified, we do have a pretty good RB in Brown. Fasano is actually a pretty solid TE. He just was under utilized. Our O-Line can be fixed rather easily. I would love to see a veteran QB come in and compete with Henne, but I think with better blocking and play calling we'll be a lot better.
of which at least half should be filled. with the jets about to lose players and the bills still behind us we should easily be number two in the division
Again, I hope you're right, but I could find nearly identical posts to yours after the Jets lost to the Colts last year. They won't be able to sign free agents, cap hell, etc. and they somehow found a way to get it done. And it won't be us and the Patriots until we find ourselves a QB. Good QB play can hide a lot of weaknesses on a team.
NO SMACK TALK!!! Please delete this thread and asses points for those who contributed and ban the OP.
well they almost didnt. Darrelle Revis held them up and they had to resign Mangold to huge contracts. They did it be it was the last year they still could. This is the year where the crap hits the fan though. Look at their starting roster. I have bolded everyone who is a FA or over 30. This list doesnt even include the backups a few of which are also FAs. I added their backups in case the FAs arent signed or the old fogeys get injured or just drop in effectiveness QB - Mark Sanchez FB - Tony Richardson FA (40)/ John Connor RB - Shonn Greene 3rd down RB - Ladanian Tomlinson (32) / Joe McKnight WR - Braylon Edwards FA/ Patrick Turner WR - jERRICO cOTCHERY WR - Santonio Holmes FA/ Brad Smith FA TE - Dustin Keller LOT - D Brickshaw Ferguson LOG - Matt Slausson C -NiCK mANGOLD ROG - Brandon Moore (31) / Vladimir Ducasse ROT - Damien Woody (34)/ Wayne Hunter FA DE - Shaun Ellis (34) / Vernon Gholston NT - Kris Jenkins (32)/ Sione Pouha (32) DE - Mike Devito OLB - Bryan Thomas (32) / Jamal Westerman ILB - Bart Scott (31)/ Lance Laury ILB - David Harris FA /Josh Mauga OLB - Calvin Pace (31)/ Jason Taylor (37) CB Darrelle Revis FS Brodney Pool FA/ Dwight Lowery SS - Jim Leonhard CB - Antonio Cromartie FA/ Kyle Wilson Kick Returner - Brad Smith FA/ Kyle Wislon P Steve Weatherford FA / ? my thoughts exactly. The jets won most of their games this year despite the crappy play of Sanchez. if he somehow progresses to an above average or even middle tier QB, they could make a run next year even with a few losses.
A playoff run means nothing unless you win the superbowl. THAT is the point of getting into the playoffs, not "At least we tried"
