144 of them total in his career. he didn't see the field last year for other reasons (i'm guessing that he could help out on special teams; which is very important for the WR position)

The news is somewhat significant, because Wilford's job seemed to be in considerable jeopardy after the NFL Draft, when Miami landed two wide receivers, including one (Patrick Turner)
It sucks that Wilfoed has not worked our as of yet. He has the kind of size that we've needed in a WR for some time now. Let's pray Turner works out and if Wilford wakes up and becomes the player we thought he'd be, along with a hopefully healthy Camarillo and Bess, etc, we could have a pretty dominant receiving core. Let's hope. ;)

Muckretired_adminUsually when they start moving a guy around like this, it means he's just about at the end of the line. Generally it's a team's last ditch effort at getting something out of him. That's what I see here.
Looking at the positions, WR is pretty much set. Younger players who nonetheless played ahead of Wilford last season will be cut barring injuries.
Tight end would seem pretty set, at least the top two. Your third stringer is 6-8, 270 and played last year. And they drafted a guy in the 5th round.
We generally keep just one fullback. And he just signed a 2-year extension.

He'd need to be about 4 inches shorter and 20 pounds heavier to play Polite's position. Or simply 30 pounds heavier to be a fulltime TE. H-back might be a home for him, but I think he still may be a bit too light if he's truly going to be blocking on plays. Blocking a cornerback is much different than blocking a LB or DE.
As far as backup fullbacks go (on gameday), I think you'd see more unconventional formations with one or more TE's in the backfield like we saw last year. If nothing else, we formation teams to death.
I think we go with a normal 5 WR | 3 TE | 1 FB.
Make the throwback uniforms permanent!

agree with Muck ... the FO is trying to get something - anything out of Wilford, considering what we are / have / and are still on the hook to pay him. it's in our best interest to 'find' a way to get him on the field and contribute - than to just cut him and eat his $$$$. (which of course, still might happen)

the 23rdNew MemberI think we could wind up with Anquan Boldin in the fold by training camp.
1) he wants to play for Miami
2) we need one consistently serious play-maker to be viable in the passing department
3) things have potentially improved enough on the team to pick up Boldin, with hope to win the AFC again & go deeper into the play-offs. the investment makes sense considering our new potential in 2009
I also think we'll have our eye on a Guard & NT in the potential cuts before the season begins, the roster is subject to more change.

Praise him from day 1 from OTAs, and if somebody goes down somwhere, ship him. Think about it, we manged to get picks for TDaniels and Luke freaking McCown! If they can trade those two, they can trade anybody.

Looks like this new news is old news.

djphinfansubscriberI just dont see the role for wilford over what we have, martin made some real nice plays last year and was in great shape. wilford can prove us wrong if he wants, theres just somethin there that isnt true.
