No major revelations re; Henne's struggles this past season, but a worthwhile and relatively short read nonetheless if you're a Dolphins fan. Saw it on their NFL home page and thought I'd post it here. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6354551
I don't think Henne has the vertical jumping ability to be a good rebounder. Hopefully Udonis Haslem can come back soon.
This cracked me up. Two of Henne's biggest issues were that he wasn't aggressive enough and played in a crappy system. But the article is still well done. It isn't inconceivable that Henne could come out and surprise this year. I just hope we cover our tracks and have someone else here to compete.
Wait, a major news source is claiming Henne had a promising 2009 but regressed last season? You wouldn't know that from talking to stat monkeys around here! I kid, kinda. Anyway, I think whether or not Henne can rebound depends entirely on how much of 2010 was Dan Henning's fault. I think a rather large percentage of it was. But the million dollar question: Will Daboll be any better? Keep your fingers crossed Dolphans.
I certainly think Chad Henne could be the QB we all want him to be. Whether he does that or not is up to him. That being said, I hope that Tony Sparano's quote, to paraphrase, of not giving him more opportunities to let him throw downfield or put him in good positions was not just lip service. I sincerely fear that it might be, as I don't think Tony Sparano is the sharpest knife in the drawer by any means. But, in the end it's up to Chad. We'll see what he does. An improved interior OL (I'm hoping Richie Incognito and Nate Garner aren't Sparano's final answers) and upgrade at the RB spot would go a long, long way, in my opinion to helping Chad. I do expect competition from a rookie, whether that's a 1st round pick or someone like Greg McElory, who knows, but competition never hurt anybody.
The Dolphins could probably take everything they had last year, have the same exact Henne, same exact circumstances and still raise Henne's passer rating by ten points by calling the game differently. What I mean by that is if they called the game as if they were behind by seven when they're ahead, Henne's passer rating would be more like 88. None of this bull**** 3rd and 8+ PA and he's probably got five less picks and is somewhere in the low 90s and we're talking about our "stud" 25 year old QB. There are so many factors to a great QB, Henne is capable enough. He just needs the system to be tailored to him. I don't think he'll ever be a top quarterback, but he can certainly be at least a Matt Hasselbeck-05 QB.
Does anyone ever get the feeling like we went 4-12? Like whenever i see that our record was 7-9 (with some god awful performances down the stretch ex: Buffalo and Cleveland) I'm always surprised. With Henning destroying us at every turn, Our defense never catching any Ints...ever, our running game completely dissappearing, the offenses inefficiency in the redzone, hennes struggles, i cant believe we were relatively in the playoff picture until the last two games. Last season felt like a trainwreck but really, some better coaching and some better performance, we would have made into the playoffs. Henne struggled big time last season and its tough to rely on him solely this season, but so many things were just not his fault that its really hard to judge him yet.
That article sums up exactly how I feel about Henne. I was disappointed in him but there were things around him that added to his poor play. I'm excited to see what he does this season with the changes that have taken place.
coming from someone who thinks mark sanchez is a top 10 qb, that means nothing. although i think henne is better than sanchez.
