Offense: ESPN - Preseason All-AFC East offense - AFC East Defense: ESPN - Preseason All-AFC East defense - AFC East I know there is a AFC east section, please move there if necessary, but I like the love given to our O-line on the offense team. He only named Carey to the team, at RT. But they did acknowledge Smiley and Satele. They better watch out for Donald Thomas ...
Now we just need a few guys to get mentions as starters on the Defensive side of the ball. I don't know about anyone else but Langford reminds me of a young Seymour when he came out of Georgia.
Well, Crowder is listed as starting ILB Also, if we're the no-name D with no superstars but the best unit as a whole, I'm fine with that too!
You know the resumes of the other CBs in the division are bone dry when Ellis Hobbs is part of the All-Division team. He sucks.
Crowder has been starting much of the last 3 yrs, not Zach's understudy...he did, however, move to Zach's position when he's missed time, but there is no mistake that Crowder is a starter, not a fill in... That said, I think he's pretty close in his evaluation...we can argue Allen in the mix as one of the best LCBs in the AFCE...but Revis is a star in the making at CB...Allen, while better than most has reached is up side...On the RCB spot, can't argue with Hobbs, as he said, by default.... It'll be interesting to see the evaluations at the end of the season...I think Langford is also a star in the making....we may have several DE/OLBs as stars-to-be....
actually, not as much love as I anticipated. Really, for every position at Oline he mentions 3 of 4 starters in our division who are worthy.
Nice props for the O line. Once considered the weak spot. Zero props for the D. It's funny how things turn around so fast in the NFL. Our D used to be the strong point.
I do think Revis will be better, but until he does Allens a really good cover guy. Him and Lehan combined for 3rd best YPA and who do you think is more responsible for that?
Call me silly, but I'll take Cromartie/Drayton Florence/Quentin Jammer over Allen/Lehan any day and the former is ranked significantly below ours according to that stat-line. We were worst in 1st down% given up and 5th worst in TD's given up through the air (not even including rushing stats). Fact is, teams didn't pass as much against us (last in attempts against by a mile) because we had a superb pass rush and horrible run D. Frankly, I consider what successes we had against mostly because of that. In situations where we went up against elite WR's and/or QB's, we got burned as much as or more than anyone else.
Yeah I wasn't talking about all that, just pointing out Allen IMO was more responsible for that stat moreso than Lehan. You don't take one stat and base a decision off that one stat. So in no way anyone should look at that list and then say, "Ok i'd rather have ... XYZ" Id take Allen and Cromartie though. Don't forget, Dr. Z probably the football writer I respect more than any other writer, chose Allen to his all pro team. Not for his INTs or anything like that, which takes 2 seconds to look up. But charting his throws, making his analysis, making some tough decisions. That's remarkable. ITs the reason why a Cromartie gets much more press than a Nnamdi Asomugha, even though Id take Nnamdi 10 times out of 10.
I don't think there's anyone who would ever cut Nnamdi Asomugha or even trade him for less than a 2nd or 3rd. I'm waiting on this season to see if it really if Allen was that good (all the nice WR highlights against us didn't make me think so) or was it that teams decided to pass less on us since our run D was so porous.
Well 2 players isnt bad but considering there are 22 players and 4 teams we should have anywheres from 4-6 players and only have 2.
