http://overthecap.com/february-10-nfl-salary-cap-space-update/ According to this we're looking at $32,481,273 in estimated cap space. Tounge-in-cheek I wonder what type of an O Line that would get us.
I read this week that there is speculation that the 2015 cap could be as high as 150 mil. I guess we'll see. Right now, the Fins have about 34 mil in cap space to work with. They can take that to 40 mil just by cutting Patterson. Then, if they want or need to, can gain a few mil more by ditching players like Thomas, Trusnik, Egnew, Arkin, ect. If it were up to me, Id cut Matt Moore as well, but I don't think that the team is going to. There are zero realistic targets for renegotiating by turning salary into bonus, so I don't think that we'll do anything like that, nor do we really need to.
I read last week that we're about 9 mil under, and can carry that over to next season. If the cap were to remain flat in 2015 (and it likely will rise) we're about up against it without that carryover. We can clear a net of about 16 mil by cutting Ellerbe, Finnegan, Fields, Gibson and Shelly Smith though. So getting close to 30 mil of space, even without a raise, would be simple.
