The free-agent defensive end worked out for the Houston Texans on Monday, he told KRIV-TV, but he said he didn't sign with the team.
"Part of me wanted to do it," Schobel said Tuesday. "It wasn't meant to be. We couldn't agree on terms. They saw me for what I am today and not for what I can be. It's over."
"They have a lot of good players and are on the right track," Schobel said of the 2-1 Texans after his workout. "It would have been hard for my ego to be a role player."
The Texans didn't land Schobel, but they did sign veteran cornerback Karl Paymah, NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reported, citing a league source.
Paymah, a free agent, has worked out for several teams recently, and the Texans signed him to shore up their pass defense, which was ranked 16th in the NFL after Week 3.
