I for one don't need JJ to tell me this has been overblown, in fact when this story first broke I sensed it could be a bloody mess as soon as I first heard the word "bully", whatever stupid things Incognito did don't match up to the hate he's facing now, you think he breed fighting dogs and then killed them.

 

It may not look or quack like it, but I think this is actually positive press from the organization's standpoint.

I think it's absolutely absurd that certain people are pretending that discussing Martin's own role in how this went down is completely uncalled for. "Blaming the victim" they call it, which of course is an obvious means of tying his plight to those of rape victims. Which of course is an insult to rape victims.

What exactly did Martin do, aside from keep quiet about the whole thing, never contront his problems, never confront the sources of his problem, never seek help and never "follow the channels that the league has put in place"...until he reached a breaking point and snapped in the middle of a cafeteria over a prank he himself had pulled on a player just a week prior?

He "did the right thing"? Really?

That's horse sh-t. Even when he snapped and saw Joe Philbin that night, he never made any allegations of misconduct according to Philbin. He never said anything. In fact he texted Incognito and others saying he doesn't put any of this on them. It wasn't until Sunday when his representatives got hold of those old messages that they filed allegations with the Dolphins.

Even now he's not doing any of his own talking about it.

But this is the tactic that Mike Florio advocates. This is the tactic that our society demands. The lesson? Don't confront your own problems. Run away from them. File a complaint or a lawsuit. Make someone else confront your problem for you.

It's flat out LAUGHABLE that Florio and others try and merge the concepts of confronting your problems, with fighting and/or shooting people. Yeah. There's no in-between. You got a problem with someone, blowh blowh! Double-tap, right in the forehead, amirite?

THAT attitude is the problem. When you have an issue with how someone is acting toward you and you wish to confront the issue, what are your choices?

Discourse?
-"Out of the question."

Discussion?
-"Absurd!"

Compromise?
-"Go back to the farm you hippy ******."

Restraining Order?
-"I'm listening..."

Lawsuit?
-"Great idea!"

That's pretty much how it goes nowadays. And that's pretty much what Florio is advocating right now.

 

I bet Jonathan Martin was the kid who pulled the "Well my dad will sue your dad" card in elementary school.
