The NBA still wants you to believe only 1 ref was bad. Stern has the whole boat-load of them working for 7 game series every playoff. Some of the calls are just so blatant.

That Iverson bit was crazy. One of my friends had been telling me the NBA was rigged FOR YEARS. I always told him that was BS. After the Donaghy thing, he gave me the biggest "I told you so" ever.

This is true in every sport. You could call holding on virtually every play in the NFL. Blatant strikes/balls are often called the other way. You can make a case that anytime you have a human judging anything, that it is next to impossible to take theiremotions completely out of it.

What they have here, however, is someone actually admitting it and verifying what many of us thought. Scary stuff. Makes you want to not watch sports.

In his book..he CONFIRMS that the Knicks / Heat game where I SAID (ME ..MR. SECTION126) that the game was rigged in favor of the Knicks due to all the bad calls down the stretch.......that the game in fact was technically rigged because the head ref that night had a grudge against Riley and he KNEW that he WOULD rig it everytime against riley.

BTW....Pat Riley is obviously a HOF coach with a great record...... then WHY does he have a LIFETIME losing record in games where Steve Javi referee's?

I wouldn't be surprised if the refs have a thing or grudge against Parcells and are making calls against the Dolphins all season.

    Yet...you...still..wager...on....NBA...games?

Seems odd, do you have some sort of system that takes into account biased/hostile Refs?

it is not like I didn;t publish in this very site...my bets...and my record...which was a winning one.

you can bet on the NBA because it is predictable in the playoffs.

I WILL NOT EVER Bet a regular season game after this.

The read is quite fascinating. I have no idea how Donaghy plans on living long enough to see any benefits from thsi book (be it the cleaning up of the league, money or otherwise). He names names and was involved withsome scary people. He is being very careless with hsi life in my opinion. But I thank him for it as I love this book form what I have read.

As for betting regular season games. I almost wonder if certain refs will alter their style since this has come out? Could we see Bavetta swallow his whistle down the stretch and let a blow out actually occur? Will the people on Javie's hitlist all of a sudden be okay for a little while?

If armed with this knowledge now and knowing that harsh light being held over the league right now regarding its referees, is it possible to, essentially, reverse the formula or at least alter it by essentially hedging your bets that the refs will now overcompensate to try and discount Donaghy's claims?

I have pretty much given up on gambling myself as I am simply too jaded to believe what I see on my television as anything legit. But, from one degenerate gambler to another, what do you think will be the outcome from this?

I think that you will see the drop in Vegas Sportsbooks fall by at least 50%....tooooo much SMART money that is also BIG money will pass on regular season NBA games and the smart money will now handicap for the Ref crews more than the game which will cause Sportsbooks to pull certain games every week.

Riley's record vs. Javi? (as of 2007)

as per Eric Reid (he got threatened with a suspension for stating the record on air) is 7-23

So...let's see if we can piece this one together. Riley is obviously a HOF coach...a very good one...he has over 1,000 wins...he has won 50 games about 20 times......but somehow he is 7-23 in NBA regular season games with Javi reffing.
