Joey Porter granted Phinvaders.com a recorded message on exactly what his side of the story is. Click here! Sheds so much light on things!
Maybe I'm the only one, but I didn't think it was that funny. First, I thought it might be real. Second, I don't know why wanting to remain a starter rather than be demoted to a situational player makes Porter a baby. Will we call Chad Pennington a baby when he chooses to go to another team to be a starter? Let's not forget this guy played every down with intensity and was a defensive leader on the field and in the locker room. Maybe you don't appreciate his off field antics, but how can you not admire his play on the field? Anyway, sorry Bill but I'm the jerk who one starred your thread. I guess I'm just a little tired of the Porter bashing.
You are not the only one, I may not agree with everything he's done but by and large he's given some legitimacey to a defense looking for an identity. Joey's a disruptive force which is why now he must go because his focus is on the rift between himself and the coach.
leaders dont call into radio shows to bash their head coach......leaders dont stand up on a air plane and belittle a first year head coach (cam cameron). leaders dont get in casino fights. leaders dont talk crap about a divisional opponent and give them bulliten board material and then have 0 tackles in the game......hes a millionaire to play a kids game....i guess iam tired of a bunch of guys paid a ton to play football defended like they are related to some fans or something....
Chad Pennington is not under contract, and not obligated to help the Miami Dolphins by doing what our coaches ask of him.
Did Porter do this to Sparano? I'm not saying he didn't, I just never heard it. Cam Cameron lost the respect of his team and things like that happen. If the coach can't be a leader, I don't begrudge a player for trying to be one. I'm not going to comment on anything Joey did before becoming a Dolphin. I had no problem with Joey trashing the Patriots. He made some good points. Sure it would have been nice if he played better after making those comments. I'll admit Joey hasn't been perfect as a Dolphin. But he never quit on this team. He did some great things for us on defense. He had an amazing season in 2008. He was a locker room presence. He had the respect of his teammates. Those are things a leader does IMO. It's easy to forget all the good a player has done when this type of situation comes about. But I don't begrudge Joey for wanting to remain a starter. It's just the type of player he is.
Not to rain on the parade of the JPeezy fans, but last season I saw a heck of a lot of offensive tackles or backs picking up Porter and using his momentum to work him deeper and deeper into the backfield, past the quarterback, preventing him from getting inside the pocket so that his rush was rendered totally ineffective, than I saw sacks or even pressures. I saw that time after time after time. Is it just me seeing that?
id say leaders would say something to the coach. obviously there was a lot more wrong there and alot more people had problems with cam then just joey.
You also forgot to mention that Chad Pennington was in this EXACT SAME spot with the Jets. Chad got benched for Kellen Clemens, who performed worse than Chad did and he was also cheered by the fans when he got hurt. The whole time you didn't hear not one peep out of his mouth.
you dont stand up and do it on a team plane. you do it in a office. privatley as a leader. as a man. peezy is a puzzy imo
I'm with you. I dont know why people feel the need to trash players that have produced for us. And this coming from someone who wants Porter let go not because of anymosity but becuase of the cruel nature of father time. We need youth. But that doesnt mean I dont respect the way Porter has played for us. I will always appreciate the way he played for us and I would like to see him leave our organization with the appreciation he deserves
whose to say he didn't try it privately already? Whose to say others didnt try it privately already. And when the whole team wants to talk to him to tell him something or a good amount of them why would you hide what you are saying from them?
hypotheticals. fact: he belttled his superior, and head coach infront of everyone on the team plane. hypothetically: he could have tried it privately first.
hypothetical: no one tried it first and joey just went off in front of everyone like a ramapaging beast because he's a horrible person. fact: he wasn't the only one that felt that way about cam cameron and this came after an incident involving a fight.
I played football and honestly couldn't imagine ever calling out one of my coaches, regardless of how bad I thought a decision was.
you also, im assuming, were a kid and you were not a professional. you are comparing you as a youngsta to grown *** men.
A joke in a forum where many come to get valid football information. I posted a joke thread in here on April Fools day no less and it was completely deleted before anyone even had a chance to read it. I'm not saying I think your thread should be deleted, just couldn't help but notice how some jokes are "tolerated" when the majority aren't a fan of the person getting goofed on. Jokes are all well and good. But don't expect fans of Porter, like myself, to find it hilarious. I think Porter did a hell of a job for us in his 3 years here, and, IMO, he doesn't deserve this abuse just because he feels he can still be a starter elsewhere. A player has a right to request trades. He's 33, and if he feels like he can start somewhere and play at a high level, can you fault him for trying? For at least asking? Players only have so many years to play this game they love. Try and understand that players like Joey aren't going to take a lesser role without a fight. I'm not saying the coaches are wrong in their treatment of him. I'm just saying I understand his point of view. You're right, but Porter's reason for wanting to leave will be the same reason as Pennington. They want to be starters in this league as long as they possibly can. Being under contract doesn't erase that desire from a player. As I said, he has a right to ASK to be traded.
I didn't see that desire in his play last season. And it was his very own play that had Tony wanting to bring the younger players in. It's Porter's own fault that the young guns are knocking at his door to take his job away. Don't want to lose your starting job? Back your mouth up on the field.
Really? I would. If the boss is running the company wrong, being unfair, etc, you better learn to speak up, or you are going to have a very difficult time. Of course you can do it with tact, now I would assume joey didn't do this with tact in which case he is in the wrong, but I myself have had a tough time at work because I failed to speak up.
Actually, I am a fan of Porter, and hope they are able to come to an understanding and have him remain on the team. But, my biggest problem was him calling out the coach like he did. I'm not going to stay quiet just because I am a fan if he does something that can hurt the team.
no way Porter comes back he will be released he knew this before he spoke out it happened in Pittsburgh and its happening again he was upset when the steelers drafted woodley nolan will teach wake how to play with his hand off the ground younger and faster at the will calling out cam cameron night have been the necessary evil but classless.
