Both Martin and Fasano are free agents in the offseason. Anyone think we go after another one? Owen Daniels[Texans] and Tony Scheffler[Broncos] will both be free agents, and have been impressive. I know it's early but we've sucked in that position this season.
Both players could agree to new contracts before FA begins. Aside from that, it is possible that one or both get franchised. You may want to change your title to "potential FA TEs" or "2010 FA TEs," because people may think you're talking about players who are currently FAs.
By the way, Martin is a FA right now as we released him already. And yes, we will likely go after one in the draft honestly.
Martin is actually on IR. Even if we had released him via injury settlement, we would not be able to sign him this year.
I think the draft is more likely than Free Agency. There isn't much in the way of FA, besides Owen Daniels, and I'm not sure if they are going to be interested in someone who is as bad a run blocker as Daniels is. David Martin wasn't great, but last year he improved quite a bit and wasn't a liability like he was in the past. Free agency in '10 is going to be about ILBs, I think. If these websites I'm looking at are correct, and not really subject to the signing of a new CBA, then there is going to be just a load of absolutely tremendous young talent at the position- Karlos Dansby, Kirk Morrison, D'Qwell Jackson, and DeMeco Ryans and Barrett Ruud are all free agents. Those are all elite players, and the oldest is 28. The second tier sure as hell ain't bad either- Rocky McIntosh, Omar Gaither, and Thomas Howard wouldn't be bad consolation prizes. They apparently didn't reach a settlement so just stuck him on IR.
