Post anything about Wide Receivers in the Free Agency here. I know Boldin is now a Raven, does anyone know who is still available? I haven't been paying too much attention to this.
The Bears went after 3 players and have made the biggest splash so far. We got 1 big one, is there a chance we go after a WR? Antonio Bryant perhaps? I feel we'll either go for a NT in the 1st round of the draft, or maybe still Rolando.

A. Bryant is still out there

if our last option through FA is bryant id rather take a chance in the draft. just my opinion.

Well, Marshall is supposedly going to Seattle tomorrow. He would be the biggest/best FA target IMO.
Otherwise, Bryant/Mason have been linked to Miami, but I personally don't want either (JMHO).
Burlesen signed (Detroit), Boldin was traded (Balt.) and Walters resigned (Houston), so who else is left? -
Bryant for 3 or 4 years would be fine.

I think A. Bryant would be a good pick up for us. He's 28, though only 2 1000yrd seasons. He's a decent sized target and with Henne tossing him the ball I think he could easily get another 1000yard season. He was born in Miami and we could have him for cheap.

Supposedly Bryant is looking for number one money. I dont know, may not see a WR signed this offseason.

Please don't tell me Ted Ginn is going to be our #1 WR again.
I'm pumped about getting Dansby, but there is a dark cloud out there and that's the Dolphins still not having a #1 WR. And there's not much left. -

I actually would've liked Walter in Miami. I think he's exactly what this team needs. And, he would'be been a bargain (by today's standards). Oh well...

Well I don't mind Ginn being on the team, let him return kicks and become our #1 WR for just two games against the Jets.
We need someone for all the other games though! -

Hopfully Mike Nolan can put in a good Strong work for Brandon Marshall i dont care if Dansby, Marshall and Pennington are our only 3 FA signings then we just draft the rest of our needs IMO if that were to happen i think it would be a great Offseason
Sign: Dansby, and Pennington
Trade a 2nd, 6th and 2011 3rd for Marshall
Draft: Earl Thomas, BPA at OLB in the third, and a TE in the fourth. -
theres not a number one out there. id sign brian finneran, draft a pass catching TE in the 2nd, and wait for the great crop of WRs in next years draft.

Nate Burleson - Signed with Detroit
Anquan Boldin - Traded to Ravens
Kevin Walter - Re-Signed with Texans
Brandon Marshall - RFA Tendered with Broncos, supposedly visiting Seahawks
Terell Owens - UFA
Laveraeneus Coles - UFA
Antonio Bryant - UFA
Chris Chambers - UFA
Miles Austin - 1st and 3rd RFA tender with Cowboys, looks like he's staying in Dallas
Torry Holt - UFA
Derrick Mason - UFA
Personally the two players that make the most sense to me are Mason and Coles. We're not looking for the future of our team at WR in FA. We're looking for a veteran who can make plays and open up the passing game. Mason has shown consistently that despite his age he still has plenty left in the tank. And Parcells previous relationship with Coles indicates that he may be willing to bring him in.
Dream scenarios of Boldin, Marshall or Terell Owens (not all dreams are good ones) just don't/didn't make a lot of sense for this team. It's agains the Parcells M.O. to sign high priced diva WRs. For better or for worse that's what we're dealing with in this regime.
All this being said, I certainly hope we don't sign Antonio Bryant. Not only does it not make sense as Bryant garnered his journeyman status in the league after his stint in Dallas where he didn't get along with Parcells, but the guy just isn't that good IMHO and will come at too high of a price.
Of course, these are all just my opinions, I could be wrong.Dolphins1Beatles likes this. -
Boy this is another big question, I know people want A. Bryant. This guy is either great or absent and he won't come cheap! I am leaning towards wanting Chambers.
-
I'm liking Coles for a year while we try and find a #1 WR. With Pennington back, maybe he can help make it happen?
-
-
Chambers is a scrub, I will be really upset if that happened LOL I would like to think the FO knows better... There isn't much out there worth the investment if they aren't interested in Marshall. So I don't think there's much chance of us replacing what we've got. I hate to admit it but looks like one more year of Chambers reincarnate a.k.a. Tedd Ginn.

I think we wait for the draft now to fill the WR position. The Ravens getting Boldin only helps us. I don't think they take a WR in the first now. Guys like Demaryius Thomas, Arrelious Benn, possibly Golden Tate could be had in round 2. Personally I like Thomas if the reports of his 4.3 are true although I highly doubt it. If he runs in the low 4.5s thats fine. Colston ran I believe a low 4.5 and has done well for himself.

I could see our regime doing something like trying to get tory holt like they tried to get terry glenn two years ago.

Best scenario is to nab a productive role-player who can come in for two years while a rookie is drafted (either next month or next year) and brought up. I'd put Derrick Mason (8 1,000 seasons in last 9), Laveranues Coles (Pennington factor) and Chris Chambers (quite a turnaround in KC) in the same boat. The questions become can Mason (turned 36 in January) continue strong for 2 more seasons? Is Coles slowing down? Would Chambers be open to a return to Miami?
Antonio Bryant: unique case. Too much a risk to get into a bidding contest. If teams continue to move on wide receivers and he's still sitting there, he knows Miami could give him a shot to turn his career around (provided it's true that he and Parcells have really made amends some time ago).Daytona Fin likes this. -

Seems to me Derrick Mason is the safest way to go; if we are in fact going to look at FA WRs. He's old, but he's never injured. Click on the link and see for yourself. He hasn't missed a start since 06 and it was only 1. Then he missed 2 games in 02.
Last year he avg'd 14.1 ypc and scored 7TDs - NO fumbles.
In light of our current FA options, he's probably a good one. For a year or two anyway. In the meantime maybe we draft a WR and this gives us a bit of a cushion while a newly drafted one develops.
