I know the stadium could use some renovations but some do agree that it can be a pretty loud place.

I think it started with the Raiders game. A really small crowd and it was pretty loud on TV.FinNasty likes this. -

The fans are ready to jump on the band wagon. Now if Philbin can get them motivated enough to jump on by winning a few games they will be back and claim they never really left.So goes the Miami fan base.(Exept for the ones at The Phins)

Hoping for a nice turnout at the Meadowlands to root on the visitors this weekend. Anyone else going?

winning brings back the fans. if the dolphins turn into a playoff contender every year the stadium will begin to fill regularly

You know...
I wonder what it really says about Miami and Miami Dolphin's fans when I see empty seats, and read this type of stuff
When...
I have watched games played in Detroit when they were atrocious - and the stands were filled;
games played in Cleveland, Oakland, Seattle, New York, Buffalo (IN Winter!), Kansas City, & Washington - to name a few
and they never seemed to have the problems Miami has in filling the stands even when their teams are bad to worse to horrid...
And yet...
on message boards, in blogs, in comments...
UNLESS THE DOLPHINS ARE WINNING SUPERLATIVELY....
They can expect no fan support.
Something seems a little out of kilter about fandom when the fans only support winners.
Seems like I read about something like that in our history....

I think this issue has more to do with the fact that in Miami the Dolphins have to actually compete with other entertainment options. There's a reason why Miami is the perfect Super Bowl destination, as opposed to Detroit and Cleveland. The rising cost of going to a game is forcing people to ask "Is it worth it to attend?" Personally I love being at the stadium, but spending thousands of dollars for a pair of season tickets makes me wonder if its really worth it when there are so many other things I can do with that much money, especially in Miami. -

The last time the Dolphins played a game in Miami which was blacked out on TV was in 1998. There have been 16 NFL teams which have had at least one or more games blacked out since the last Dolphin game was blacked out. Except for the Redskins and the Browns, every other team you listed above has had at least one game blacked out since the last time the Dolphins suffered a black out.
If you don't think there were a lot of empty seats in the stands for the other teams who were suffering though losing seasons. You obviously thought that all the empty seats were merely fans dressed up as empty seats. Miami fans are no different from the vast majority of fans of NFL teams. They will show up and support a winning team. They will stay home and complain about their team when it loses.
I remember when the University of Miami was discussing dropping football in the late 1970's because of low attendance. Once the team started winning national championships, attendance at games went through the roof. Now UM is going through another down period and less fans are attending games.
Like it or not, that is the reality of being a sports team in Miami. The Heat is sold out for most games now because they are winning. Before James and Bosh came to Miami, there were thousands of empty seats at Heat home games.
It is very expensive for many people to attend a game. If they are going to spend a few hundred dollars on tickets, parking, food, and drinks to attend a game. They want to see a good product on the field. Over the last decade the product the Dolphins put on the field has been an inferior product. The sooner they prove that they have a much better product, the sooner fans will once again be willing to spend the money to attend the games.
The fans have not been the problem over the last decade. The problem has been the Dolphin organization itself. Hopefully they are finally headed in the right direction.
