    Anthony Fasano-TE-Dolphins May. 15 - 6:56 pm et

Anthony Fasano is considered the frontrunner to start at tight end for the Dolphins this season.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel suggests Akin Ayodele was only a "throw-in" part of the trade that sent Fasano to Miami. Fasano's pass-catching skills weren't used behind Jason Witten in Dallas, but he caught 92 balls at Notre Dame and is faster than John Carlson. Fasano should be able to shake off the rust.

Pretty much figured that after watching Peele and Martin last year. He was a great TE at ND I feel like he'll develop very nicely for us given the opportunity.

Its a great situation for him.The coaching staff knows him and the competition is weak.

How is Fasano as a blocker? Can he be an every down player for us?

It's not like we have anybody else. He has the chance to be a productive TE but is he on Jason Witten's level? I dunno about that. All I can hope for is that he can be an above average TE who can chip in 500 yards and a few TD's.

The fact that he didnt start behind Witten doesnt mean alot. If anything, he likely learned alot. Not alot of TE's could beat that guy out in Dallas.

Well the Justin Pelle was not going to start he is mainly a blocking tight end so he will be second but I think David Martin is going to be cut

I don't know about Ayodele as a 'throw-in'. Given that we opened up another need by cutting Zach, he seems to fit in well...

As to Fasano, no offense to the 4 guys we had before the Fasano trade, there's not a complete TE in the bunch. Fasano is as close to a complete TE as we have now and he is known by the coaching staff. It only makes sense that he gets the first shot at starting... It's tough to call since, as others have said, he was behind Witten and there aren't too many in the league that would be starting in front of him there...

well this isnt much of a surprise that Fasano is going to start, theres really no competition at TE for him, and David Martin had done nothing last year to show he was worthy... Hopefully Fasano can get back into a bit of a receiving role, that would help us out alot.

Fasano certainly showed receiving ability at ND with over 90 catches his last year. And how can you relate ability at Dallas when he played behind Witten, a perennial Pro-Bowler? I'm excited to see what this guy can do. Certainly seems like we got the better of that deal, even without the LB factored in.

no real news here as there really isn't competition at the position. But i am curious to see just how good this guy is. We've had crap for TEs since McMike left.

heck, we've had crap for QBs since Fiedler left. :D
