Where the team and Favre stand:
On Mike McCarthy telling him about the 'open competition':
On the team rejecting Favre's requests:

ESPN also said that the Packers are considering releasing him.

might as well as get something for him, even if it's a late rounder.
this whole mess only made my appreciate just how classy Marino was at the end of his tenure. Dan had every reason to be pissed at JJ and the Fins, every reason to go home to Pittsburgh. But he stayed classy and loyal to the organization.Coral Reefer, dolphindebby and arsenal like this. -

I hope he gets traded to Minnesota and the team suffers from his annual Hamlet routine.

this thing is just like the just-to-talk thread.

Is Favre in control yet?

The Jets or Bucs just need to man up and offer a 2 or 3 or something lol :)

How could they release Brett? That would be the biggest cave in the history of sports. Its obvious by now that Brett has always wanted to go to Minnesota and that this situation is VERY, VERY personal. I would never, ever allow Brett to play for Minnesota if I owned the team, unless they offered a clear number 1 and another conditional number 1 or 2 I wouldn't do it.

Im so tired of hearing about all of this already. The last what, 3 or 4 years he's done this now. Its so bloody annoying. Im also tired of players thinking they can pick and choose who they want to play for. Youre under contract to play football. If we choose to release you, we release you. If we choose to have you as our 3rd string QB, youre on the bench. If we choose to trade you to the worst team in the league because they are offering us the highest compensation package... well guess what. Pack your bags.
I know thats not entirely the situation here, but... come on. He's just whining and trying weaseling his way out of playing in Green Bay. Its on every damn sportscast everywhere probably. Who cares???
I wouldnt trade for him. You know if you do, and you win the SB, he's probably going to retire for good.(probably the best scenario involved) If you dont win the SB, he's probably going to retire, then decide to play, and demand to be traded to the next legit team he thinks has a shot to win one again and go out on top.
Enough is enough. Cut it out Favre.
*end rant* -

I agee with you that he's a whiner.Grown men should not  when they don't get their way. -

Brett is definitely on his way out. -
i just don't get brett sometimes like the statement "we all know the reason im here is cause goodell reinstated me". umm you sent in the reinstatement papers brett..it's not like you woke up one morning and goodell says i think ill make brett have to play again. the only person to blame is brett. and the thing about his longest starting record is it would be a record if he stayed retired..why risk an injury just to be a prick to your former team and try and show the world that he is the gbp. why tarnish a legacy of playing for one team for 17 yrs for one more yr with a different club? 12 million reasons for a guy that says it's not about the money or records. i used to hold him in high regards but not anymore..this guy is a bigger prick than dan marino(about the only record of dan's he hadn't broken yet).

some chick at work told me favre was traded to tampa. then i get home and realize she didnt know what she was talking about. i hate it when people give me bad news, because they either dont know the difference between a potential trade and a real one, or they just think its cool to exaggerate facts.

say it with me....Brett's in control; Brett's in the driver's seat......hahahahahahaahahahahaha
