Oh I agree, I think he is going to play...but if he doesnt.....Minny is in trouble...bigggggggg trouble, and with their expectations, I would expect Minny to do everything to get this guy playing this year...

I know we're talking about the little boy who cried wolf here, but I think it's more likely that he's for real this time. Combine his age, the beating he took in that last game, and reports that his ankle hasn't responded after surgery, and it all adds up (to me anyway). Having said that, who knows. This could all be Favre just needing to be noticed and talked about...again. Only time will tell.

even with that though, Favre is as predictable as they come....and isnt good enough to do it at the highest of levels anymore....with favre yeah during the regular season, he spreads around the ball, has good games, but not 40+ throw attempt games, and doesnt make many mistakes, then the late regular season hits, and the playoffs comes as well.....and something goes off in that guys head that HE has to be the man to win it for them....thats when he starts makes mistakes, and plays himself out...he did it in GB at the end, with the Jets, and Minny samething....awful interceptions in cruical points in the game where you just scratch your head...

I think it's for real too. I don't think he has the nuts to screw the Vikings into the drama the way he did with Green Bay. He was at least established as a franchise player with the Packers before his will he/won't he.

ESPN has started their 24 hour coverage so beware

    unreal......

Speaking to the press Tuesday afternoon, coach Brad Childress insisted that he was not told Brett Favre is retiring.

Childress has spoken to Favre within the last 24 hours, and he still considers the situation "fluid." Vikings players also told beat writers Tuesday that nothing has changed regarding Favre's status with the team. As is always the case, the Vikings are not pressing Favre for a decision. We still believe he'll be under center against the Saints in Week 1

You have to figure that every season that passes the likelihood that he will really finally retire increases. And despite his history, I admit that this one rumor had a ring of truth to it for me for the same reasons you mentioned.

any chance we could get a 2nd or 3rd rounder for pennington from them. they are going to be one desperate team looking for a qb and penny is just the type that could get them to the promised land

Depends on how comfortable the Phins are with Thigpen and White as the back-ups should Henne get injured. I don't think Minnesota would give up a 3rd round pick for CP, 4th maybe.

I do think that's a possibility. There's a history between Childress and Thigpen. I think it might be depend how high they are on White and/or how much the Vikings offer. If they offer a 3rd or better, I'd jump all over it.

Yeah, if we could deal either Penny or Thiggy (preferably Penny IMHO) for a 3rd or a 4th, I say do it and don't look back. There'll probably be an acorn to pluck off the wire as the last of the cuts are made. And, that's assuming White doesn't impress enough to be considered a #3 QB. Colt Brennen is on the street. Just sayin'.

The whore-fest that is Brett Favre is revolting at this stage....like play or dont...Mariucci was on saying he needs a week to see if his ankle feels better, like what!??!?!?! You dont know by now...?? I hope he does play for 16, more ammo for Brady to hold up the Pats baby!!!

Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports the Vikings have offered Brett Favre a raise that would increase his 2010 base salary from $13 million to $16 million.

Incentives could reportedly push the salary even higher. Zulgad has been on top of the Favre story from the get-go, and went on NFL Network Tuesday to strongly caution that Favre's mind isn't necessarily made up. It's unclear if money is one of the main sticking points in Favre's decision, but there have been plenty of rumors it is. Favre played last season for $12 million.

I guess I'm the only one that hopes he does this for five more years? It's nice to see the shoe on the other foot so to speak. Teams can cut players at anytime and there are so many players unsure of their future. I like that fact that Favre as flipped the script. He gets to cut the Vikings if he wants and can do it whenever he feels like.

The Favre soap opera has become a yearly event and the ratings keep it going.I think the season will be renewed for at least one more year.

If Pat White would show some promise which he hasnt so far ,then we could look for a trade for one of our QBs.

As it stands it looks like White is the odd man out and we need 3 QBs for the season.
