Ferguson was asked what it means to be known as a Bill Parcells guy. Ferguson was drafted in the seventh round by Parcells with the Jets and also played for Parcells with the Cowboys. The Dolphins traded for him in March.
“That’s my dude,” Ferguson said. “We got a real good relationship. No doubt about that. But our relationship is football and beyond. He’s always talking to me about my life after football. ‘How’s your money?’ and ‘Take these pills to get your blood pressure down.’
“Right now he’s all smiles. He can shake your hand. You can go up there and talk to him. It’s good now. But you meet him as a coach, it’s a little different.”
Parcells has been known to have locker-room spies to inform him of what’s going on with the players. That’s why some Dolphins have been less interested in hearing Ferguson tell them about Parcells than what he might be telling Pacells.
