sweet! got to go downstairs and fire up my 360 and get it to download now. cant wait to check it out in the morning!
I like it... but its going to take me forever to get used to. I miss being able to press A,B,X,Y to throw punches... I dont like having to use the right stick for it... Its too inaccurate at times i find, especially when trying to throw combo's and flurries of punches...
you've had to use the right stick for the last 4 versions of the game. you can always change the control scheme to the button ones though.
I didnt like the controls on the demo. I am assuming you can revert them to classic style. Its def. a rental...
I returned FN3 the other day, after I had got is as part of the gamestop b2g1 free. I just didn't think it had a lot of replayability for me. Had I got this when I was in college, it'd probably be a different story.
i just downloaded it today. it's up. yuriorkis gamboa is in the full version. thats a big plus for me. also they have kelly pavlik and i think george foreman is new too. still, if there's paquiao (sp?) i'd love it if they had mayweather. also hopkins is gone from the game. also, the only way to score a knockdown is to be a heavyweight. the game feels the same as the other three to me, but with new boxers.
ok put in a few hours last night... Here's my initial thoughts: 1. They implemented the vision camera to use when you build your guy. I used it and he looks nothing like me... None of the EA games that uses face builder with vision cam works well. They need to ask Ubisoft what they did, because my Rainbox Six Vegas 2 character looks EXACTLY like me... Then again, it's probably much easier to but a non moving face on an FPS character as a texture than put a face on a fully moving interactive head of a boxer. 2. FINALLY, they made use of last names that the announcers will read. FNr3 and UFC09 forces people to choose from a pathetically short list of nicknames. This game has a pretty extensive list of last names that are spoken by the announcers. Your first name is typed in, but you have to pick a nickname as well. For example, my name is Mike Morgan with a nickname "money". The announcers either call me "Morgan" or "Money Morgan". 3. I don't think they did Mike Tyson's hooks the justice they deserve. I used Tyson in a few quick fights VS Ali, and Foreman. Tyson just doesn't seem to do the damage that he should. Granted, I'm fighting two of the greatest of all time. But still... And open right hook counter from Tyson in his prime should severely hurt anyone. 4. There seems to be a lot more to do in Career (they don't call it career, they call it Legend or Legacy or some crap). I only played through the initial amateur tourney you do once you create your character. But the new calendar of events system (used in everything from Madden to Tiger Woods to UFC) gives more of a daily lifestyle of a boxer feel than Round 3's Fight, Train, Rinse, Repeat. Will write more later when I play more.
Ok, I played this and It is a lot better than 3. I am not sure if the fact that I played 3 on PS3 and this one is on 360 has anything to do with it. But this career mode seems better to me.
I've been playing Legacy and it's awesome but there are times when the game just pisses me off. I went to the 10th round with one guy and got knocked out by a sucker punch, they showed the round results and I had won every round up to that point. Maybe I just suck at the game.
Man I suck. Some guy (ranked like 36th, I was 38 or 39), knocked me the **** out. We were landing almost the same number of blows too, which pissed me off (though I was throwing twice as many). I also suck at all the training things, and have to let the CPU do it.
I've made it up to rank 18. I also have the CPU do the trainings, taking the 50% is better than what I can do although I can get the champion ranking for the open sparring. I can only get a KO when I get their health down to nothing but yet I'll get KO'd with full health.
I have to learn how to beat the spammers. My buddy beat me with L. Lewis, I was Tyson, by just throwing random shots. And above all, my stamina was lower than his??? Gotta learn to bob and weave. Thats all. With two good fighters, the game can be great. Otherwise, it can be frustrating, arcady, and unrealistic.
I started a new legacy (was 18(16)-1), because I thought I was building my guy wrong (or did something wrong), as if auto-training all the time lowers the possible points accumulation each couple times you do it (like +6, then +5, then +4, etc). Well I realized that the +6,+5,+4 is based on how high the rating is. D'oh. Anyway, I beat my first "real" guy today: James Tony. He was 86, and I was 82 IIRC. Luckily he only has 72" arms though. 6th Rd KO!
