Odricks statements about the "cleansing trip" to the Dominican Republic are interesting. I wonder what "ingredient" he is alluding to.

He would be getting off cheap. I've heard stories where guys have had to take their entire position group (OL, DL, LB's etc) out to dinner where the guys would order expensive food and booze and generally ring up a $5000-$6000 bill on the rookie. Every high pick goes through it.

LOL You're talking about a 5000-6000 bill and yet... for ELEVEN game 7 100 level seats in Miami... you say it's cheap.

Do you seriously think these tickets are less than $500 a ticket? Here's a hint - it would be at the VERY least, $1100 per seat. VERY least. Not to mention they all sat together in a row? Holy hell. I don't want to know. I think it had to have been $25,000 for the block, minimum.

There has been a lot of discussion regarding the South Florida sports fans since attendance at Dolphin games have decreased in recent years. The number of fans actually watching Dolphin games on television in the South Florida area has also decreased as the Dolphins have experienced one losing season after another.

The Heat on the other hand have consistently sold out their arena for every regular season and playoff game for over two years now. Indiana is suppose to be a basketball mecca, yet during the 7th game of the playoffs between the Pacers and the Heat, only 22% of the TV's were tuned to the game in Indianapolis. Yet in what is considered to be more a football market and not a basketball market, 38% of the TV's were tuned to the game in the South Florida area.

I have said all along that the problem with attendance at the Dolphin games has nothing to do with the stadium. It has everything to do with the fact the Dolphins have been a losing and boring team for the past four years. Prior to James coming to the Heat, the Heat organization had trouble filling the arena and frequently would put a tarp over the seats in the top of the arena because of low attendance at games.
Once the Heat starting winning and the product on the court became exciting, the tarps came off and the arena has been filled on a consistent basis. The Heat are now and have been for the past three years, the hottest sports ticket in the the South Florida area.

For the Dolphins to regain fan support at the stadium and in their locale television ratings, all they have to do is put an exciting product on the field and start winning games on a consistent basis. They don't need a new or renovated stadium to bring fans to the games. Winning will take care of the low attendance problems the Dolphins have suffered in recent years.

Like it or not, South Florida is all about winning and locale fans have shown this year after year. Ross needs to stop worrying about the stadium and just ensure that the team he owns is a consistent playoff team and he will see attendance rise once again.

Of course winning will bring more fans to the stadium, that was never the argument..seems like you weren't really trying to understand the flaws when folks were pointing them out.

I fully understand the arguments in regards to the flaws with the present stadium. I have just been sitting in the stadium for years and all I have ever cared about is the product on the field. I don't care how hot it is in the stadium. I figure I am only going to be sitting and watching the game for a maximum of three or four hours on game days. I spend that much time on a hot golf course for at least five days a week, so I certainly don't need a covering to protect me from the heat and humidity at a Dolphin football game.

In regards to the design of the stadium and the lack of an atmosphere at the game because of this so called flaw in the original design of the stadium . I never heard anything about this design flaw when the stands were packed in the Marino years and the crowds were loud and the atmosphere at the games was full of excitement. A winning and exciting team will bring this type of atmosphere back to the stadium, renovations or no renovations.

As far as the stadium needing these renovations to bring more SB's to South Florida or other big sporting events to the area. As I have pointed out numerous times, I really don't care if we ever get another SB again or not. There are plenty of tourist here in January and February every year and they fill the locale hotels already even though the SB is being played in another city.

All I care about is the Dolphins putting a winning and exciting product on the field and if they do, I would pay to watch them play in a cow pasture. If fans don't go to the games just because of the stadium, they really aren't fans to begin with.

Unfortunately we don't have lots of fans like you..

The stadium is a represser, regardless if folks eventually fill the stadium because of a winning team, it will always dictate you to your passive side, at least for most people..

Every great sports culture has a connection to its venue...just like we used to have an intimidating reputation when we played in the orange bowl, that intimidation factor had mostly to do with the building, not the crowd, the building engaged them and made them feel like the could actually be a factor in the game if they did things the right way...the deteriotion of our culture started the day we left, slowly but surely, you have what we have today..real problems as a fanbase...

People use to go to the orange bowl for the experience of being heard by your team, to puff your chest out a bit that we could literally intimidate you, that was part of the draw my friend, you have no such thing in this current building, you have people staying home because the energy is not tangible, it's not special, even if we win and more people come to watch the team..It's a spectator stadium, and that is very dangerous in this sport and totally puts your team at a disadvantage, and literally predictable to the cultures demise.

While I don't care personally about the stadium the team plays in, I won't argue that unfortunately, the stadium is a big drawing card for many fans. In fact it was because of your arguments for the renovations that I voted early at the polls and voted in favor of the referendum. I may have my on view regarding the stadium, but I'm willing to listen to individual like you who make valid arguments regarding the need for an upgraded stadium.

I realize that even though I don't need to sit in the shade at the games and the present lack of atmosphere, isn't a big issue for me. These appear to be big issues for some individuals, as well as many owners in the NFL.

I attended well over a hundred games at the Orange Bowl. I will agree that the Orange Bowl had an atmosphere that hasn't been seen in the present stadium for years. Of course much of this atmosphere had to do with the facts the Hurricanes and the Dolphins were great teams in many of the years the atmosphere was electric.

I remember attending Hurricane games in the 60's and throughout the 70's, prior to the Hurricanes becoming a national championship quality team. During these years, the crowds certainly were not large and the atmosphere in the stadium was very mellow. In fact they was so little fan support in the 1970's, the University Administration contemplated ending football as a sport at UM. Once the team started winning championships, large crowds turned out for games and the Orange Bowl became the atmosphere we all remember. It just took winning games first, before crowds actually stared turning out in large numbers and the atmosphere at the stadium took on a life of its on.

The same thing happened with the Dolphins at the Orange Bowl. Prior to Don Shula coming in to coach the Dolphins, the Dolphins used to give many tickets away to get fans into the stadium. I remember going to games in the in 1960's on tickets I received for free. While these tickets were for seats in the end zone, there were so few fans at the game, we could move throughout the stadium and ended up sitting near the 50 yard line before the game even started.

Once Shula came and the Dolphins started winning, fans started showing up and the Orange Bowl became a fun and exciting place to be on game days.

For both the Hurricanes and the Dolphins, the Orange Bowl only became a factor once these teams starting winning on a consistent basis. When they were losing, the stadium and the atmosphere at the stadium was no different than it has been for both these teams at Sun Life stadium the past few years. It is winning that will bring back the crowds and once the crowds are packing the stadium, the atmosphere in the stadium won't be much different than it was during their years in the Orange Bowl.

I know this because I saw plenty of games during the Marino years at Sun Life stadium when the stadium was packed and the atmosphere in the stadium was electric. I agree it would be nice to have the stands closer to the field, but until the Dolphins and Hurricanes start winning consistently again, the atmosphere in the stadium will remain the way it has been in recent years.

I also think that if the Dolphins start winning on a regular basis again, this will help them to convince voters that they are a valuable asset to the community. So many fans and voters have been turned off in recent years, I believe the constant losing has made a lot of non die hard residents in South Florida question why they should give one penny to the Dolphin organization. This may not be fair, but that is just the mentally of a large percentage of the South Florida voters. Perhaps a few years of going to the playoffs and especially winning a SB will make the team relevant to the many South Florida residents who seem to have turned their back on the team in recent years. Like it or not, it is all about winning in South Florida and until they start winning again, the Dolphins will continue to struggle at the gate on game days and at the polls if this stadium issue is voted on in the near future.

Those years for the dolphins and canes were in the beginning stages of building two cultures j-dub, all cultures need time and winning to cultivate, I too have been to many many games at both venues, and while you may think that winning will cure the problem and there is nothing significantly wrong with the structure as it relates to a disadvantage, I strongly disagree..

Football is played in the mind and heart as well as the body..it's an emotionally taxing sport, to know when you go out there your going to feel an intense crowd on your side giving you fuel to add to your fire, that can put you in a certain mindset to play the game, when you come out and feel the opposite, it can also put you in a certain mindset..

Some want to point out that home crowd noise can equally distract you from your duties as much as it can motivate you, that's all BS, an intense home crowd can elevate your senses and make the other team nervous..ask any team that has a legitimate one, they'll tell you exactly how they feel, go to a ravens board, go to a Seattle board, listen to the quotes from their players, hear them talk about it, they'll tell your full of sh&$ if you don't think it's a huge advantage for them, their fans start to realize it, and the unison begins to happen, the etiquette becomes a conscious decision to raise the noise level.

Did you know that Dan Marino hated playing at sun life..??He understood the advantage the orange bowl gave to his football team, he understood that when you feel the fans on top of you it forces you as the home team to raise your level of play, it gives you intensity, just ask him if you ever get the chance, it's a great conversational piece..

Intensity is the name of the game..our building as is, has none, with or without a packed house, even with a packed house, its not enough to lift a players emotional level of intensity, anything less, it actually takes away..

You know a long time ago I predicted that what is happening today was going to happen, I'm on the record for dwindling attendance, deterioration of two cultures, relocation talk, failed fan support, losing seasons, the stadium simply has become a cancer, and it's winning the battle.

Next time you go to a game, take a real look around, really put yourself in the shoes of our players when they go out on defense in the first quarter, better yet the beginning of the third quarter, look around when we need a critical stop and 95% of the crowd is on their seats..quite honestly, it's sad man, I feel sorry for our players in situations like that, I feel sorry for them when they come out to 30,000 people for their intros..I feel sorry for them when they look up in the fourth quarter and 10 to 15 thousand has left..Not only does our stadium provide our team with a serious disadvantage, the etiquette of our fans is very poor, now imo, the stadium is mostly responsible for that, subconsciously..like I said, the stadium dictates and inspires your passive side to kick in..only the few like me and you, like Ozzy and his crew in the endzone, understand what needs to be done from our perspective, unfortunately were in the severe minority, and that is unacceptable inside a football stadium..it's not the way this game should be played.
